Maybe because they go straight up, instead of swinging out?

ive seen two different styles so far. one that goes straight out like the pic, and some that come out a bit sideways and then up. from pics it looks liek the second style doesnt go up as high.

yeah i think youre right. the ones that go out and then up seem more convenient b/c they dont need to go up every time you get in and out of the car, they open partway as normal doors, then go up.

I think that might be the GTFactory kit. It is claimed to be the kit that raises the highest of all the lambo kits and it is scissor-like rather than gullwing style like the other lambo door co.'s. They cost like 2k i think, but they are really nice doors.

I think there is a guy with a black roadster on this site that has them on his car and they look really nice. Installation of them requires modification of the A-pillar so that it doesnt hit when the door is swinging up or something like that. I just remember him saying that it involved a good bit of custom work to get them on right, but I think the end result was worth it.

Look in the Dr-Bonz Lambo Door Experience thread and you will see the guy with the black roadster I am talking about and he also gives a link to the GT Factory website. I am just too lazy to link to the thread right now

These go up much more than the others, because the door panels are re-done. On the factory doorpanels, with any lambo door kit, you cannot bring doors up this High. Instead the door panels were completly redone to make more flat, thus they can move up this high. Also the doors still open about 1 inch out, and then up.

Also, on the decah kit on my M3, the could not possibly go up any further because the hinge would not allow it regardless, whether I were to modify the door panel or fender or anything like that.

The GTFactory kit hinges have a wider range of motion of the hinge itself, and that is why they can open farther. However, they do require customization of the door panel to clear the A-pillar. That is what I meant to say in the earlier post.

Good info Srivero, I knew that door looked higher than the other kits Ive seen, If I was strictly building a show car Id go with this kit, But I think the decah and/or VD kit would probably be more practical for a daily driver. Thanks!!That roadster looks sick btw!!

I was gonna say the same thing about them being GTFactory. My chick's model buddy Vanessa has a sponsorship from them for her Celica. I don't like the straight up and down look.

Anyone else notice that the front fenders are not installed back on in the picture? .. could that also be why they are more "vertical"?

Nope, that is not the reason, engine modifications are being done to it

Aside from being able to get out of your car in almost any tight parking spot?

"Whoah, that car's got lambo doors!"

Ok, I see the point about being able to get out of the car in a tight parking spot. Then again, there's nothing in the world I hate more than dings on my doors, so I never park in places that tight.
