I just got a plenum polished, and I was wondering about polishing the throttle body.

Heh.. have any pics of the heat shield? I don't remember seeing any polished tb's. It would be a fairly difficult job with all the smaller hard to get areas. But, I could imagine it would look pretty sweet.

Very nice. I didn't think that peice would shine up so well.

I'm sure the throttle body is doable, but would cost a good amount to shine up. Then again, if you wanted to save some cash you could only have them shine the visible areas. Or, if you had the right equipment you could DIY.

I think it would look slick.

I should be getting my polished plenum in a week or two. How was the install. It seems straight forward. Any tips after doing your install. I also see you have the pi-thon connectors. How do you like them. I was thinking of getting them too.

i just had my plenum polished as well, love it. i also contemplated polishing the throttle body. i decided to polish it myself using steel wool, mothers/blue magic and a terry cloth. that was my method prior to the plenum being polished. it turned out well. i also have the Pi-Thon Hose clamps, they are a great addition to any engine bay. they were not bad to install at all, just have to have time and patience! here are my pics

Hello Everyone,

I currently have a 94 RX-7 but I will get a 350Z when I get back from summer vacation.

I did a lot of polishing work for the RX-7 owners and if anyone needs work done I'd love to start doing it for the Z.
Here is the upper plenum and throttle body for the RX-7 that is on my car.

Also if anyone has a plenum and throttle body for sale because they have upgraded etc...I would like to buy that so I can check it out and get some nice practice polishing those pieces. It seems that its the main visible part.
If there are any other parts you guys would like polished just let me know. I also have a lot more examples of my work so just ask.

So does anyone have a polished throttle body yet for the Z? How about powdercoated? Please post pics if you do.

Thanks!

Nice! How much did it cost you if you don't mind me asking? I'm thinking of doing the same thing or powdercoating it.

I was only charged 18 dollars to have the throttle body polished. I believe I was charged like 135 for the plenum to be polished. Now I need to polish that ugly green piece of metal that holds the hoses in the back... ooh and order a polished bolt kit

They have it over at Performance Nissan but honestly spend an hour or so matching nut sizes at Home Depot and you'll save yourself close to $130. I had planned to do so as my friend did but haven't had a chance to yet because the car is in the shop but I'll post info if necessary.

Barzten why is yours going to be somewhat polished??

koolzero keep in mind that the green coating is on there because the metal will rust without it. If it is polished it's going to have to be powdercoated or with normal clearcoat and requiring a thick coating because surface rust will form over it otherwise.
