Default 350Z Halogen to Xenon Headlight

I am trying to figure out how to convert my 350Z base model (Halogen) headlights to 350Z Xenon headlights (Projector). A HID kit is not an option since the Xenon headlights have been purchased! Help!!!

Please click on the link to input your thoughts....Thanks

Salvage yard would be the most inexpensive option for this one (for HID headlamps). Unless you're really crafty... and then a salvage yard would still be useful to you (for broken HID headlamps)...

if you already bought the full xenon housings and everything then your only option if you want to use that is to have an automotive electritian change out your halogen wires and fuses (if you want it done properly w/o running the risk of lighting your Z on fire). or you could also just cut the 6 prong plug off your xenon wiring and cut the 4 prong plug off your halogen harness and use a voltage meter to figure out what it what. either way I'd actual recommend selling those xenons you bought and just buying a complete OEM HID kit from JUN. good luck.

Are you positive that is the only option? How sure are you that you actually need to change out the entire wiring?

Oh, and the 06 xenon kit has 7 prongs and the 05 halogens have 6 prongs.

I have mapped all the wires.... most components (blinker, running light, halogens) use one common ground. The halogen is on its own ground.

I don't know what gauge the stock wiring is and unless you can find that out so you know whether it can handle the higher intial power that the HID's will require, then personally I wouldn't screw around and not change them out for adequate wiring. that is how electrical fires start. I read your other post and I was suprised to find out that your 05 halogen harness is 6 prongs and the 06 xenon kit is 7 prongs. I guess no one has run into this problem yet. however it is odd that the 06 xenon (which you said has 7 prongs) supposedly plug right into any stock 03/05 xenon harness which is a 6 prong. sorry I can't be of more help. perhaps the guys who have fitted their 03-05 Z's with the 06 bi-xenon will chime in. good luck.

I think i have the wires all mapped out.

The only difference from the 05 base halogens with 6 prongs as compared to the 06 xenon is one wire, which is blue and is connected to the blinker bulb. As it appears, the 06 blinker bulb has two filiments so i assume that the bulb can be on and then use the second filiment to indicate simultaneously. It probably stays on like the little 194 bulbs do on the 05 headlights. The blinkers on the 05 have only two wires (ground and hot) and subsequently, the bulb has one filiment. Also, the harnes for the power and ground for the Xenon is a slightly higher gauge wire then the rest in the bunch, but the hot and ground is a little bigger for my halogens too. I am positive that the only difference is at the plug on the headlight and forward, nothing seems to be changed from the headlight harness back.

I think this is going to work. I will let you know in about 2-3 hours.

soooo I want to buy 05 hid projector headlights to replace my 05 halogen headlights (06 headlights are expensive!) and buy a 55w hid kit from ddmtuning. Is this possible without having to do anything to the wiring/prong?

thanks
