Default 350Z Front Grille needs an enhancement

While looking for a custom made mesh grille for the front of the 350z. I was playing around with chrome door edge guards from BrightTrim and put 3 - 35" on the vertical bars 16 -1" in the narrow hortizonal bars. For $6.99 I now have a one of a kind that to me looks cool. Probably will go with mesh grille when somebody offers one to fit the 350Z.

might be decent depending on car color, the grill is plastic tho, so this is impossible in a simple way. only way to chrome it would be like that cheap plastic chrome, not real chromed metal.

as for a mesh grill, the common thing to use is gutter gaurd, but the 350Z grill is too large for that, which means no 5$ mod for you! aftermarket grills always cost a bunch. never seem worth it for what you get.

pitlizard,
Sent you a pm earlier not realizing that you used the edge guards. It looks very cool. What's the website for BrightTrim? I need to order some. CourtesyParts says that it won't be available till later.
Thanks.

Default Auto Discount

Shagz

I found the BrightTrim at the local Auto Discount in a 10' roll. The kit was for trucks or SUVs, price $6.99. This a chrome plastic door edge with a self-adhesive V channel. With a little effort it fits and hold nicely. I was just fooling around when I did it, but it does look nice, I think I'll leave it on until I find something different that looks good.

I'd check the auto supply stores in your area. Good luck.

Default close-up

I don't want to give all the secrets away, but another shot of the grill.

I did just the 3 pieces that go from side to side......looks understated, but a nice contrast to the "black hole".

Pitlizard :

Looks cool. How did you address keeping the functionality of the little Tow Hook cover in the middle of the grille? From the picture. It does not appear that you have made any cuts to allow the tow hook cover to be removed.

Default Grill mod and Tow Hook

Tampa, I PM'd you and have received same question from several more on the tow hook concern. For this application I would just remove the top bar, or I could cut slits.

This bring up a good point about any custom type grill, it would have to be easy to remove or somehow accommodate the tow hook if needed. I sure most never plan to use that nice tow hook feature on the 350Z.

The bodyshop I had my front bumper refinished at didn't do a good job the first time around. They have paint on the black plastic slats, and the edges are cracking. I'm taking it back and they'll redo it under warranty.
Since the black plastic part cannot be taken off, an option is to color match the plastic slats with the same chrome silver as the rest of the bumper.
What do you guys think??

grill-tech will have grills very soon. They are sending me a couple versions and colors for fit and finish testing. I'll let you all know how it works out.

I did mine about a week ago, except I bought the black door edge guards and spray painted them silver.

Hmmm, going from "Black Hole" to "Look at my new Braces" I think I like franks' with the horizontal strips only, but I am still trying to decide if I like it or not, any chance we could get a couple more pics from different angles, Pitlizard and Frank?

Just go to Pep Boys or any other auto parts store. There is some adhesive stuff on the inside of the molding.
