Intial D Kit At Bodyshop
I took her in last Monday and know it is Tuesday. I gave the guy a call today to see how far along he has gotten and he told me that he is still trying to get it ready for paint. He said there was alot of waves in the front bumper and rear. The front bumber is poly and the rest of the kit is fiberglass. He said that I would not be able to keep by rear safetly beam which I don't know why I can't since I seen that gq_626 did on his kit. He also said that the font bumper needs some support brackets put on because it wobbles around alot, and they need to come up with something to hold it on there right. I am going to go check it out tomorrow and take some pics that I will post tomorrow of the car. He said he wants to make sure all of the waves are out and that it fits right before putting any primer or paint on it. I know that the paint will match up perfect because he just got done painting a hood for a silverstone Z and still has the paint mixture in his computer. I just want my baby back, but I guess perfectness takes time.
rear safetly beam issue: I keep mine. I don't see why he has to get rid of it. Front bumper has no issue either. I don't know why they can't install for you. Look for new body shop.
Too bad I have more money then you to pay them.
Next I will be going for your hood, but don't worry, I will never touch your wing. Too much for me and I am thinking on more the lines of the INgs Half or Data Systems. I am also looking to spice up the kit alittle with some things that are top secert that will make it way different then everyone else's. Sorry to have the same kit but I love the looks of it.

Just got back from the shop with no photos because it was nothing real big to look at. He has been behind because of some other custom jobs and painters on vacation so he is working on it and should be out by next week. I felt the poly bumper and there is alittle bit of wavyness to it that he is getting out as we speak, and the rear and sides are all ready for primer. He told me he wants to make sure it is perfect before he lets it out of his shop because when someone asks me were I got it done at, he wants them to know it is his work and not some spray it without prep shop. About the rear safety beam. He showed me how it wouldn't fit and I most say that it won't fit without something done to the beam or the bumper. I told him to try to notch some out of the safety beam so it will go on perfect. Also, the front poly bumper sticks out further then stock so the bottom support that holds the stock bottom down does not stick out as far as the aftermarket bumper so he will have to extend the support part to come up to it. Other then that everything seems to be looking good. He quoted me $1200 for the job. Thats 10hours of prep and 10hours of paint. So I guess this is a good price and hopefully it won't go up much further. I know gq_626 payed $1900 the first time he has it painted.
Dam 1200-1900 bucks for paint and fitment at the body shop.
Jesus thats way I'd would never get a knock off kit.
The fibergalsss waves and fitment issues why do companies put stuff like that on the market?
Man my real veilside version 1 kit with a front bumper repaint and shaved emblem cost me $700 bucks.
My shop said Veilside fiberglass needed no prep work at all.

Is that the Veilside Lip Kit? If it is there is a big difference between your kit and mine since mine is a total replacement of bumpers and sides. You got ripped if there just the lips.

LOL .. umm no
I guess after rocking this kit for a year now.. it may be time to change it up a little.. considering the INGs Long nose. Not sure yet.
I see in your later posts that this guy is taking his time to do it right. I know that it sux.. but let him do his thing, if it takes a few extra days its worth the wait. As far as my kit went.. I had to fabricate a bracket for the trunk release on the rear bumper.. but other than that .. very little prep on the bumpers / skirts.
G' luck on it, and enjot it when you get her back.. also.. BE carefull .. front and sides are VERY LOW.
What part of VA are you in?

Obviously you personally PMed me because your frustrated about it. You’re already having problems with the kit and over time and you’ll have more.
The fact is Initial D kit is copy of the Ing+1 kit N spec kit. The company that made Initial D kit it is not concerned with quality they are more concerned with making a quick buck.
Even if you test fitted your kit and it didn’t fit right the company would not back up their product and take it back. My bet is the company either had you sign and waiver on their site saying they are not reponsible for the fitment, or would make it your reponsiblity to ship it back with 20% restocking fee.
As my previous post states my body shop fully painted my front bumper (shaved the Nissan emblem), painted the front lip, painted 4 piece sides, and rear valence for $700.
Over the years with project cars I have never paid 1200-1900 for full body kit. I've always bought original kits and that’s why.
I learned early on that buying knock offs and cutting corners is not the way to go.
The consumer ends up paying more at the body shop and has a far less superior fit in the end compared to the original kits.
That’s just the facts and that’s why this industry sucks so much. Everyone get burned the original designers of the kit and the consumer.
I feel bad because you probably didn’t know.
I hope the kit ends up ok and the body shop doesn’t add more time on the kit.
I hate to see people get ripped off sorry man if I offended you
