another set of G35 projectors
The last time I did my X5 lights, I swore I would never do that again. But I figured that I'd try the E46 projectors for another G35 coupe owner in Socal.
The X5 (5 series) took so much work to make sure that it didn't hit the outer lens, and that the back cover could still go on. These were E46 (3 series) ECE projectors, and there was a lot more clearance. Still not easy though. Fortunately I had a spare broken passenger side headlight, so I could do alot of the fitting and adjusting the day before.
(keep in mind the pics are not of my car. Mine is a white coupe with X5's)
The shroud is made up from a commercial one from hidplanet and polished aluminum cans.
The owner of the car wanted the inside of the bezel painted black, but leaving the outer surface the factory gunmetal color.
I was able to complete this job in 5 hours. I've worked 36 hours straight before every 4 days, and this is just as tiring. My hat's off to you guys who can do this for multiple people, it's not easy work.

I would really love to try a project like this myself, but I'll have to do some more DIY research first.
Looks very nice btw. EK, could you PM me with roughly what your parts cost?

The parts is relatively cheap. A set of e46 projectors on ebay will go for $130 to $160. I just bought new ECE ones from hidplanet. Other than that, I bought some OEM sealant from performance nissan, and a few bolts/washers from home depot.
I think the 350z headlight by design, is more difficult to retrofit, since the high and low beam appear to be all one big reflector piece. But certainly not impossible to do. A good imagination helps when it comes to figuring out how to physically mount the projector.

is there a way that this can be done to a 350z, I mean I have seen some done, but there is a piece that have to be left chromed... is there a way to make it without that much chrome being left over?

It has to be convereted to FULL projection. The 350z set up is projector AND reflector based, which is why some reflective chrome has to be left when the inside is painted. I plan to have mine retroed to FULL projection. Like E K's retro, cept his was from FULL reflector to projection. =)

I am going to use Illusion-lighting.com to do it for me. It will end up being just shy of 1 grand so its not cheap at all. But I have a light fetish, if you did it youself (like E K) it wouldnt be very expensive, but the Z light will take to much modification and im not up for it.

Wow, a month's kinda a long time. But I guess if you haven't done a particular car's headlights before, it's a new experience then. The only reason why I could do this job so quickly was because I already knew how to mount the projectors, and I already did some prep work.
Def post pics when you get the lights. I think you'll like the S2000 projectors.
