Emblem Shaving/Replacement Decision
My car goes in tuesday to have the full INGS kit put on, and I have decided that the nissan burger on the back will have to go.
My options are:
1.Pay $150 and have it removed (entire hatch will be painted, and holes will be welded in)
2. Pay $190, and have the wiper and emblem holes welded and painted. (I will have to remove the wiper myself.. no biggie.)
3. Replace the Burger with the "Z" from the stock kickplates.
4. Buy the Chrome Z logo that looks similiar to the Burger.
I am already paying $1500 to have the kit prepped, installed, and blended.
Any suggestions? I like some of the options a little more than the others, but I can't make up my mind.
:edit: This is option 3:

I'm in the same dilemma... I'm planning to shave and re-paint the hatch (and front bumper) + remove/plug the rear wiper. I'll just Rain-X the rear window with 20 coats just in case there's a rainstorm .....

Yea go for it all the first time around. On my last car (vw gti), I only shaved the emblems first time around and then about 3 months later it was getting painted again because I decided the handle had to go too. I plan on getting rid of all emblems on the z and the rear wiper.

How apropos. I just took off my 350Z badges about 30 mins ago (yes at 10 O'clock at night) and I LOVE the clean look. If the back Nissan badge didn't have holes in it I'd be taking that off too.
I think the totally badgeless look is best. I just can't see spending $450 for the front and $200 for the back to have them filled and painted. I need to replace my wheels first.
I would suggest anyone wanting to do this go get some Goo Gone label remover. Fishing line or floss won't help you get the glue goo off. You don't need to use the plastic scrapper it comes with just use the bottom of your finger to roll the goo off.
Here's a mini-tutorial:
DO NOT USE ANYTHING OTHER THAN THE BOTTOM OF YOUR FINGERS TO RUB WITH UNLESS YOU WANT TO SCRATCH YOUR PAINT!
Pour a little of the Goo Gone over the plastic emblems and let them soak for about a minute. The plastic part will come right off just be careful not to scratch your paint by raising an edge of the plastic too high. I pulled a little on each end then pulled the things straight off by lifting on opposing corners.
Once you have the plastic parts off you will have huge stickers left where the plastic was. Don't Panic! Soak the stickers some more and let them sit for about 2 mins. Soak them again, let them sit for 2 mins. Soak them again. You should see them starting to bubble up. If not that's ok too you can continue since you will continue to soak them as you go.
Now start rubbing the glue goo with the bottom of your finger and it will start breaking apart and the glue will start balling up like a giant booger. Lift off those boogers as they get big (don't eat them, they aren't real boogers). Continue to soak the remaining sticker goo as you go.
Keep doing this till you have it all off. I had a faint "350Z" outline when I thought I was done but all it took was some more Goo Gone and more forceful rubbing with the bottom of my finger.
Now wash the back of your car with your favorite car wash and then wax.

Took it to the shop today. Bye Bye Wiper, Emblems, AND antenna.
I had already removed the FM antenna and replaced it with a 5dbi WIFI antenna. I will now mount the WIFI antenna internally, and have a completely clean car. (except for the mini XM antenna that is painted SS).
In the end, I was only charged $150 more for doing all 3. It worked out this way because he would have to repaint some of these areas anyway. I thought it was good deal so i went for it. I'll post pics in a couple weeks.
