Thumbs up Voodoo Spun Shift **** with custom neck

Parts:

Team Voodoo Spun Aluminum **** $31
Plastic Leg Tips: $1.99
Door Bumper: $1.29

I wanted a shorter shift **** to decrease the throw a little more and also wanted a round **** which are more comfortable in my hand. I went with the Voodoo spun aluminum ****, which were created for the Miatas but have become very popular for other cars as well. It was really cheap at only $31 and the other parts were next to nothing at the local hardware store so overall it was a pretty cheap mod at under $40.

I started out by removing the plastic retainer piece on the original shift boot and trimming the boot down to remove excess material, as the new **** would be lower and require less boot. Sewed the top of the boot back up nice and tight so it was snug against the shaft.

I then cut the rubber bumper in half to remove the larger end because all I wanted was the smaller cylinder end which will serve as a foundation for the leg tip. I had to bore out the center hole of the bumper a bit to get it to slide onto the shaft which it did nicely. They I drilled out the closed end of the leg tip so it would also slide onto the shaft, and fit that down over the rubber bumper I had just installed. Next I just screwed on the shift **** and that was basically it. I did have to cut the leg tip down a bit because it was too tall.

Here is a pic of the parts:

Here is a closeup of the **** installed:

Here is one from a distance:

Another:

The leg tip is the same exact diameter and fits flush with the **** bottom so it feels very smooth and comfortable while shifting. Granted this is just a cheap and ugly hack of a job, but hey I think it looks halfway decent, definitely better than those rubber toilet gasket things I read some people were using, lol.

Yea either of those two look awesome with our interiors. I have actually had mine for a few months but have just been slacking at coming up with a decent sleeve/neck solution so I held off. Good choice bro =)

Pretty good work on the ****!

I, too, went w/ Voodoo but opted for the regular size w/ collar. I love it! No rattles!

Nice! I like that even better. Did you order the collar from Voodoo as well?

The collar was through Voodoo, but I think it only fits the regular size (not the Magnum).

Even though I liked the shorter shaft length at first, it was a bit too short as my hand was rubbing the boot too much, so I just added a spacer to raise the **** up a bit, and I think I like the look even better...

Is this shift-**** similar to the ARC titanium? Does this one sit a little higher than the ARC?
