A few thousand for a really good clean job. I had a black car painted to Mercedes Silver and it was about a 3500 paint job.

Just find a UY and trade in the SB. that's what I did. Your resale later down the line will be higher since it's factory (i.e.rare). If you wanted a different yellow such as ferarri or lotus yellow, then I'd repaint it. But since you want a factory color, try and research and see how much it'd cost to trade over.

I went from an '04 base to an '05 enthusiast. only cost me about $4,500 (w/o the nismo options) to upgrade year and trim level. They are having a hard time moving the UY and generally will discount it.

What seems to be popular now is Lambo Yellow (like mazzoo) but definitely get something different from OEM if you're going to spend $$$$ to repaint your car. I good quality paint job will run you from $5K-$8K depending on the shop & paint you use.

Do you plan on pulling the engine or are you going to let the engine bay remain black?

I think if it's left black it would be ok. mazzoo's z is left black. Will it be cheaper?

Yes it will be. Essentially what will kill you in cost for a full paint job is all the labor needed to strip everything from the car prior to paint & putting everything back.

I would probably do it if it's 3K'ish... Right now, i'm shopping around for a body kit and a shop to paint/install the kit. I was told i would be looking to pay close to 3K with the kit and whole car painted so that why I dont have to worry about mismatch paint.

What sucks about changing the color of a car entirely is that, unless you pay extra, most shops wont paint the hard to reach spots like the door jams and the engine bay, and as a result they remain the stock color. Therefore, if I wanted to paint my DB Redline, and I didnt paint the engine bay and doorjams, they would still be DB, and that would look pretty damned stupid IMO. However, since your car is black, that is not too big of a deal, at least not with the engine bay, because the black color can almost be played off as a shadow when the hood is closed and still isnt very noticeable when it is opened. With any other color though, it presents a problem. As for the door jams, I would pay the little extra and get them painted with the rest of the car.

Im in with everyone else though, dont go with a stock color. Get an exotic color or throw some flake in it or something, make it original.

Unless you take the time to strip and repaint the entire chassis, you're wasting your time.

Trade the car in if you want factory color. If you want a beautiful paint job with custom color, you are looking at mucho time and money. Its always best when the entire car gets stripped down to its bare metal and repsrayed.
