The welds are big and ugly because the bar is made of aluminum. So what that means is that this bar is only for looks, because in the event of a roll over, that bar would not hold up. In no way would that bar pass any sort of credible tech inspection at a track event. It does look good though.

I don't know much about roll bars, but from what I do know, SCCA and N.A.S.A. I believe require a certain thickness of DOM Steel tubing. Also, Going off of what Kirk Racing says, the bar that goes across the main loop behind the passenger is necessary for safety reasons. It triangulates the main loop with greatly increases its strength. From the picture, this bar doesn't look like it has any kind of support for the main loop, especially since it is made of aluminum. Do you have a link or a photo of this bar in their race cars?

if you go to the first page of this tread there is a link to a vid of the car with it. You can see it a little better since they shoot a shot from the drivers side window.
