rear turn signal lights / EU-model /
hi,
I'm driving an EU-model of the 350z. This model has the ugly red part of the signal light which I would like to change into the clear one of the US-model.
Now I would like to know if there is anything installed for using it as rear light like on the right side or isn't there installed any electric for this.
Also I need to know if there are stamped any signs and/or numbers on the outside of the white rear light. If there are stamped some, please let me now them.
Thanks,
with best regards from good old Germany

Yeah, the red part is the fog light, on the right side we have the clear backlight for reverse.
We MUST have a red fog light here in germany, so when i use the clear one from your US-model i must use a red bulb in it, i have found some on http://www.minitrailers.com/Bulbs.htm
It´s crazy, in germany there is not only one red bulb with necessary approval....

So can someone enlighten me as to how this rear foglight works? When does it come on? Is it manually switched on like all other foglights? Is it really a foglight or a brighter additional brake light? TIA.

That's a pretty elegant solution.

You must manually turn it on and it is a realy bright foglight. It is only allowed to turn it on when you can see less than 50 meters due to heavy fog.

Well, it could be done but you would have to run your own wiring as that light(inside portion) serves as our back up light. You would have to install a switch and run wiring to the bulb.

EU lamps are next to near identical to the full clear US-spec lamps.
We are currently working on a EU-spec rear signal/fog assembly for a customer and the lens markings are the same: DOT / SAE compliant.
The difference between the internals of the lamp is that the EU-spec unit has a red filter lens responsible for the fog function. In addition, it also has the necessary metal shielding so that the housing does not overheat and melt.
Wiring harness is just about identical with minor change in the pin location of where the signal (or fog) pin is located. Easy to change though.
We'll be adding the EU-spec signals to our site in the next couple weeks, in addition to various other new creations that we've been working on. The new G35-coupe black housing / full LED tail lights are expected to be released next week as well.
Hope the info was helpful,

hey interesting fact. that 3rd switch next to the heated seats? thats for that foglight who knew! besides europeans...
I had made 1 UK fella a red LED bulb for it; wasnt certified but it worked well for him according to him. and it was clear when it was off so it had a nice clean look.
but if that even appealed to you; Im just teasing you cause I dont have the parts to make anymore .
