Question Rear Wiper Removal

I was somewhat disappointed when I first saw the Z had a rear wiper. IMHO the wiper should have been an option. Has anyone taken the rear wiper off (or considered doing so) to improve the rear end appearance?

you driven in the rain yet? its not a very sloped surface, and you cant see out of it at all. that wiper is nice to have.

if you did remove it youd be left with the motor drive sticking up, and if you removed that too youd have to find a way to patch the hole.

Default No car yet

I'm still waiting to get my car, but I cant imagine that it's any different than a Firebird or Corvette.

never driven either, but I guess Id want the wiper on there too.

the appearance isnt bad at all... and there is no real weight loss to speak of from it. I guess looks are subjective tho.

Yeah, I was just realizing today in the rain how useful it was. My last two cars it was useless (Blazer with a spare tire mounted on the back, great, now I can see the tire clearly and a supra with louvers on the back)

here is another better view from the top angle...
It still has the film over the cover, I probably will sand it down and primer it, then paint it. I wondered if I could take it to somewhere and use my touch paint to have someone air brush it on? after primer it of course! any ideas anyone?

i completely agree with you. i think the car would look better with the wiper taken off. i have driven in the rain and i have yet to use the wiper. actually, i've used it twice, both when using the winshield cleaner. i've never had a problem seeing out of the window, i just sprayed some of that rain repell type stuff on the windows. works really well. keep us updated as to how it turns out.

I think it will be useful when u have a snow storm and u are too lazy to go outside to wipe it off and the rear defroster is too slow defrosting.

Remember the blizzard storm that we had for 3 days straight last year! Well, in Dallas you could pretty much call that blizzard storm, you might call it flurry in a another state!
But you are right, our baby should be in the garage when the weather gets that bad!! I just hope we won't have another one of those hail storm like the one back in April!
Trust me, if we get another storm like that again, I will definitely make my girl friend to pick my *** up to work or better yet, call in sick!!!

"Stupidest things....", whats so stupid about the idea of having the rear wipers shaved? I for one would love to have it removed. So far the local shop in my area quoted me 300.00 or so dollars to have it shaved and painted because the painting proccess is a three stage ordeal, so they'll have to paint the complete trunk lid. I've been applying RainX on my rear windows every other month so i never had any need to use them...but then again i do live in Hawaii...snow...what's that?

Also, the back window is sloped enough for water to run off, but if you want to assist that, and you ahve taken your rear off, or you just don't want to use it get Rain-X...great product use it on all my windows after cleaning it with invisible glass.

The only time I ever used my rear wiper was when I hit the switch on accident.
