If there is anyone that can help me out, please do. I have been working on that led conversion project that Acree had done awhile back (changing the orange interior color to red) I was working on the main cluster and then I touched a part of the circuit board and now the only things that light up on the main cluster is the SeatBelt, Oil Check, Airbag, and EBrake warning lights. Nothing else on the main cluster lights up not even the odometer. Also the VDC OFF button, heated seats buttons, and the three smaller gauges are off as well. I checked the fuses under the dash and under the hood and all where fine, PLEASE HELP!

PS: Everything was working before I touched a certain part of the board.

Disconnect the negative terminal from the battery before doing work or going into the fuse box with an Ohm meter.

There are six fuses that feed power to the driver's information center (dash):

1. 10 A battery #19
2. 10 A Ignition #12
3. 15 A ACC #10
4. 15 A ACC #11
5. 10 A ACC #6
6. 10 A ACC #14

The fuse box is to the left of the driver's feet. One of the above fuses is blown. Good luck.

This is a long shot, but in computer world it is possible to fry a chip with static electricity that's on your body.... when I work on boards and such I try to never touch anything other than non-conductive areas. Also check all connections!

 

Tested all those fuses, all work none are blown!

First off, I don't really know what circuit board you're referring to. Assuming it is somewhat motherboard-looking in appearance (exposed circuit components), I hate to say it, but static discharge is a serious possibility.

If this is what happened, one or more of the devices on your board may have been fried due to high voltage (static electricity can get into the 10,000+ volt range easily). However, your fuses would be intact because fuses don't break unless you have high current. (Static electricity produces very small electrical current).

Sounds like a job for a tech junkie or just take it into the dealer.

I could be wrong, but if you were describing working on your computer, and then you said "all of a sudden it stopped working when all I did was touch the motherboard," then your problem would be clear as day in my eyes.

 

I know of that but the only thing that touched the motherboard was the tweezers or the smaller side circuit board that lights up the sides of the main cluster buttons, I DID NOT physically touch the board. I am in college for Computer Information Systems and I do know about the static electricity part of that answer but I can assure you that I did not touch the board with any part of my body, any other thoughts? Were the tweezers metal?

 

yeah but I had touched them to it before hand and nothing happened. Why?

 

If they're metal, obviously they could still have caused static discharge while you were holding them.

I'm not convinced that this is the case, but you should go have someone like the dealer check it out...

 

yeah thanks I called an got an appointment for Monday at 1:00, it sucks b/c it won't be covered by a warranty b/c I am not Nissan Certified to work on my own car! Damn! Oh well!
