Default Need some sanding tips for dash

Well I started my winter project today I dont know if some of you remember but I am painting part of my dash to match my fiber glass door panals. I will paint the part in the photo and carry that datona blue around the top of the dash were the defrost vents are, This way my blue door panals will wrap completly around my interior.

I am starting my sanding with 100 grip paper to get the texture off but didnt think it would be this hard. any tips would be great. part with texture is in photo parts by front window is sanding down easyer

What about a sand dremel that you can hook up to a power drill? They are circular so it should be easier to get into the crevices. Good luck on your project!

DO NOT DREMEL!!! the interior it takes alot of sanding and prep work to get those right your best bet is to remove them from the car and then sand and paint.

i am no expert by any means, but i would probably just mud it, and start the sanding from there. it would take maybe 3 or 4 skins, but trying to take that texture off, seems like massive *ss pain

I’d use synthetic bondo (filler) or resin + fiberglass, and then sand it for a smooth finish.

Get an orbital sander ($30-50 at homedepot). It helps make things go about 10 times faster. No need to go bondoing or glassing. That will only add more work. I sanded my enitire interior with a sander and it wasn't that bad.

I cannot even imagine the hell of doing it without the sander!
