Default Taking Care of Painted Engine/Battery/Fluid covers

A couple weeks ago my Z got hit in a parking lot at South of the Border. Went in to Nissan to get fixed. New bumper, headlight, blah blah blah. Long story short, I picked the car up and noticed that they didn't do my hood (had small knick and was supposed to be color-matched to bumper and fender). So I took it back in today and they're hooking me up. To 'repay' for not doing the hood, they're painting said underhood covers for free. Not a bad deal at all. So you guys with painted covers, what do you use to protect the paint from the engine heat? Just wash and wax or what?

Wipe off with a damp towel. It's the same paint that is exposed to the heat on your hood; no special treatment needed.
