Nismo Urethane, Clear Corners, Painted IC
Hey guys. Clear Corners headlights (sidemarkers on the way) Nismo KarumaZ Urethane bumper and a APS intercooler painted black. I am going to see if I can find a better camera to get shots of the headlights that show just how freaking awesome they are !!!! I love these things!
Oh yeah also.. DEF need something for the rear bumper. Any suggestions? I was actually thinking about putting my old mud guards back on, but I am sure once I do that I'll want something else. Let me know what you think

Wow, that's very clean! Well done man!
Hmm...as far as the rear, are you going for something simple looking? If so, how about molding the Nismo rear diffusers? There's some pictures of a Z with this on ClearCorners.com & it looks really clean. It would compliment the front bumper nicely since it won't have lines.

Hey thanks guys...!!! Always nice to have other Z enthusiasts offer props
As for the rear, I am torn on what to do because I don't want something that looks "Added" on, and most of the full bumpers are a a bit too much. I was thinking the Ings Half Kit (?) I think it is called if I mold it to the rear. I'll try and find that Nismo rear shot. Anyhow thanks for the comments guys...

Fitment is pretty spot on. I didn't have any problems and didn't really have to do anything to make it fit that way. I need to pull my passenger side headlight and put it back in again as it jusssst so slightly isn't lined up right. But I think I am the only one who sees it..

Hey Josh,
Here's a link to the pic of the Z with the molded Nismo diffusers that I mentioned above. Looks very clean IMO. Not really into half kits since it leaves a line across the bumper but maybe you can pull it off since you have SB.

GTN thanks man. That is Tim's car I am pretty sure. I think that might not be a mold job, that might be an actual JDM bumper ... Errr that is the genuine JDM nismo rear isn't an add on but a replacement. I'll see if I can find out. Thanks for the link!

all nismo rears are add ons, whoevers z that was posted it on either here or 350ztech. it is in fact the nismo rear add ons that have been molded in bc he didnt like the stuck on look. theres no nismo full rear bumper but a few have molded theirs such as that picture. do a search you might find the rest of his pices.

Out of curiosity... if the fins are still open... and air is still traveling through the intercooler... shouldn't it still be cooling off the pipe running through it? I can't see a super thin film of paint holding in massive amounts of heat.
As for the GReddy rear. I don't dislike it. Pretty straight forward. Again it is just that "Added on" line around the bumper ... I know molding... just never had it done. What do they do. Smooth the lines out with ... molding putty?

The idea is that alumin is a great heat transfer mechanism ... whereas a painted aluminum is significantly less efficient.
It's like putting a winter coat (ok, maybe a windbreaker) on in the fall and seeing how much longer it takes for you to get cold from a nice strong cold breeze.

I understand that but is a thin coat of paint really that insulating? I realize that anything (Bugs) clogging airflow or getting on the intercooler will lessen its ability to perform. I just don't think it will be that drastic.. I can always check my charge temp compared to one of the other APS STs when I go to JapTrix.

there's no way a half dozen killed bugs will produce enough juice to kill your efficiency more so than an ENTIRE layer of paint.
typically its not so recommended that you coat the fins with anything, unless its with a thermal xfer paint. which i've heard of before from japan.. my friend had it and painted his IC and didnt lose too much cooling from it...
i mean. people spray "SPEARCO" or GREDDY on their ICs.. but then again. its not the entire intercooler... you were probably better off getting a black grill infront to hide it, rather than paint...
edit:
this is what i found from BellIntercoolers.com
"Can an intercooler be painted?
Certainly. One might find a small loss of efficiency if the core is painted, but likely this would be less of a difference than the repeatability of measurement. By all means, paint the end tanks, but preference suggests the core remain exposed"
