Tks

I've put a little bit of electrical tape around the 2 side prongs but still don't feel that will hold them for the long run. Haven't driven the car since I did that.

Any suggestions then? What do you charge for new covers? My dealer quoted $5.40 each OUTRAGEOUS for a 5 cent
(ok maybe 10 cent) piece of plastic. Maybe that's why they change shape!

There are little plastic covers that fit over/in the bolt holes that hold the taillight assembly to the body.

i had an idea to put some 3M tape on the back and have it stick to the top of the bolt but they wont reach.

its a small problem, but it one gets lost you might as well take the other five out aswell since it wont look right anyway
I'm going to try some velcro, put some on the bolt head and on the cover. It's pretty thick stuff so it might be enough to compensate for the distance between the two.

that's weird...my 05 bolt covers "clip" into the 06 taillights like originals... Are there different "batches" of 06 taillights that might fix this problem?

Yeah, just bend them back by hand. That is what I did.

The other idea is to use a single small drop of black silicone sealer to the button or hole edge if you have broken off a couple of the locking tabs. That way when you need to get in there again it is easy and your button won't fall off either. In my case I just had to pull out the little locking tabs with my fingers a bit.
