Default Paint your engine bay *INFO!*

After reading the CF engine cover post and seeing the pic of the axis car. I got to thinking. My last car took very well to spray paint and looked GREAT. Should i venture to try the Z I asked myself. Well guess what.... I DID. It looks great!

GM7204 is IDENTICAL to brickyard when sprayed on to plastic. Right now i have only painted the back side of the covers since i was scared. It dried with a hint of sparkle in it too. Now i just need to clear coat it. Pics tomorrow

Body color matching engine cover! I was actually thinking the same thing. But I'll probably get a body shop to do it for me. (I'm not too much of a painter).

its a matter of time before the heat and vibrations cause it to begin cracking. unless you used flexable paint with high temp abilities. I know they sell the "soft" paint for like RC model bodys. and people use high temp on brakes and what not, but I donno if they can make paint do both. but since it is on plastic, and in the engine bay... could be tricky.

it would take some time. good news is that part isnt too expnsive if it didnt hold up.

Well yes and no. I painted the two covers and they were fine. Then i made the mistake of parking it 100% into the sun with the hood open ALL day. Basically it lightened up the paint too much. I knew it would do it some, but not THAT much. I did practices pieces with it and it was a perfect match. Oh well.

So yes, the two covers are done, and I will do the engine cover whenever it gets above 30deg here haha. WAY WAY to cold to spray paint.

Default Engine Bay paint

Here is a shot of one of our local 350 cars engine bay. It really looks terrific. This shot was w/a small point n' shoot digital at night and it doesn't do his car justice. Check over in the photo and video sect. for Ted's car and you will see some daytime pix too. Regards, Jim
