Default Clear Headlight Strips

I am really interested in getting these but was doing some research on them and it seems a little crazy. Baking the headlights and a 4 hour install for them? I know its DIY so you are taking a small risk of ruining stuff if you screw up but how easy is this to do, it just seems like a lot of stuff for a little strip. Any feedback about the installation and how it went would be appreciated.

+1. Don't have the *****. Don't even have the ***** to pay someone else to do it. I've needed 2 new sets of lights already from Nissan cuz of problems with them, and they wouldn't have been covered under warranty if I had done this mod. I'm just scared that something else will go wrong after I do this, and Nissan will tell me tough luck then. (I guess that'd be a good excuse to get '06 headlights though ;-)

Its not that hard, Ive done it to a few sets of lights. Ive never put them in the oven though, just used a heat gun, worked great. In the past I even used a hair drier, just took a little longer. Just take your time and you will be fine. In my opinion its definitly worth it. Builds your confidence a little bit too knowing that you did something like that.

I'll be pulling mine back out this weekend for 2 reasons. 1, they didnt seal all the way first time around and I'm getting some moisture, and 2, My smoked strips will be coming in. The first time I did it, I smoked the strip myself and the darkness is a little uneven when lit so I figured if im redoing them for the moisture, I might as well get the strip this time around. I also painted everything in there black. Maybe this time around I'll take some pics of the process if anyone has any questions.

I'm pretty sure on this site they had directions to install clear sidemarkers. I searched but couldn't find it. I'm installing those as well as considering the headlight strips so I'm looking for directions since the JDM directions came in Japanese.

i know this isn't apples to apples, but i opened my friends wrx headlights to take out the amber pieces and paint them black, and it took some time, but was overall really easy. i plan on eventually buying the clear strips and clearing my z headlights too.

Those are directions for the headlight strip. That is what this thread is about but I would also like to find directions on how to install the JDM clear sidemarkers.

To install the sidemarkers that are in the bumper do this....

Remove plastic shield under car, just a bunch of 10mm bolts. For the driver side reach up inside the bumper with a stubby phillips screw driver, remove the 2 screws holding the sidemarker in. Slide out the slidemarker and put the new one back in. For the passenger side you have to partially remove the bumper because the washer fluid bottle is directly behind the sidemarker.

The easiest way is to completely remove the bumper (follow instructions in link above) swap the sidemarkers and put the bumper back on. I can take my front bumper off in less than 5 minutes, the first time it may have taken me 10, its really easy and definitly makes it easier to swap the markers out. Hope that helped.
