Replace/Reposition passenger side mirror..??
My '05 Enthusiast's passenger side mirror (right: USA) has bothered me all along as it is mounted so far to the rear that my peripheral vision has no chance of noticing any imagery of use while I look forward. For these eyes to see even the slightest thing -a mere hint of motion- I must avert my gaze so far to my right that I completely lose road vision.
Fair enough. The aesthetics of the standard arrangement are beyond reproach and I was able to accept this compromise with no sulking or tears.
However, a strange accident: a few weeks back at end of a fierce windstorm had me drive through the foliage of a tree knocked down on the highway at 60 mph and it cracked the windshield and snapped off the right side viewm mirror: snapped off at its plastic mount with wires hanging free (and no function of the passenger window either: now locked closed). So now I'm thinking abt all this again.
I'd love to mount the replacement mirror well forward ... I put it on the fender of an old Fiat Spyder long ago and I loved it: like a HUD! I'd be very willing to give up my remote control of that side mirror if that was the only sacrifice too.
Anyone have tips, advice or experience?
THanks!
