Default How to remove trunk panels for sound deadening purpose?

Please help! I've tried searching with no luck; I'd like to put some sound deadening material in the trunk area but don't know how to properly strip off the panels. I was in the garage for 30 minutes last night and could not even figure out how to take out the foam pieces !

Any step-by-step guide, links, or info on this process would be greatly appreciated!

if you are talking about under the hatch, just pull it starting from the rear and it pops off. if you are talking about the rest, start with taking out your carpet and pull off the center piece first and you can see the rest from there. very easy, but may have to give a big tug to get some of them off...they are tight.

Basically they all pull out. They are all snapped together and to the body with panel connectors and tabbed ends. I removed a fair amount of panels when I ran my EDFC wiring and its pretty easy.

Do a search for panel removal and you will find a couple links with pictures.

Start with the one in the very back and then work around the sides. Keep an eye out for the little blue plugs that sometimes drop off the panels.

Thanks all the helpful info! I feel a little better now "tearing" up my $30K car . Guess the panels just pop out, I was just afraid I might break some tabs/plugs not knowing how to properly pop them out (and cause rattles later).

Paul - by the "very back", do you mean the panel just on the other side of the license plate?

I recommend you buy some of the round pointy panel fastners from Nissan to have a few extra incase you break one. The are super easy to replace.
