Varis vs rain?
I was just curious, im liking the varis air duct more and more. (Not so much the cf part but o well) Im just curious, with popcharger, how does it stand up with water coming in the engine bay? np or can it be a prob? i searched some and only found one that explained a lil but he said just a few drops get in (but he lived where it doesnt rain a WHOLE lot)

I have the Varis on my car, and with rain, it's not a problem.
The duct is pretty far away from the filter. It would be hard to get a lot of water through the varis duct, then through the stock vent in the front support, then to the filter... I haven't had trouble with mine at all, i wouldn't worry. but you can always slap a piece of vinyl tape over the duct during the rain if you really want to, to be extra safe...

We sell them online here:
http://performancenissanparts.com/ca...oducts_id=5541
but Varis takes a long time to ship to the USA. We're waiting on our shipment to come in still. We have nearly all of them sold already.
Andy has it on his Black Z, and I have it on my chameleon Z. It's easy to put in and nice once on the car

No problems in the rain. I've had mine on for 3 months and have checked under the hood quite a few times during rainstorms.....I've only seen one drop of water ever on the popcharger. I also have a tube running from back of Varis duct to the filter area.

The varis duct coms with a template so you can line it up on the bumper. I recomend doing this:
put masking tape on the bumper, in the area where you will cut. Line up the template, and with a pencil or marker, outline where the template tells you to cut. Remove the template, and then cut out the bumper along the marks that you drew on the tape. The tape will hep prevent paint peeling etc... I used a dremel with a cut off wheel bit, that's what I would recomend for this.
Once it's done, take a file to file down the rough edges, then install the duct. It takes about 30 minutes to do....

Here's a tutorial:

Replace the dot with . and the dash with -
This forum censors that site for some reason.

I hardly ever drive my Z in the rain, BUT when I have, not even an issue to be concerned with. The design of the piece is indeed angled towards the intake, but downwards. And there is plenty of space between it and the air element. You would literally have to hold a water hose directly to the Varis and even then I'm not sure it would hit the filter.
I disagree completely with your last comment. I have had mine for @ 6 months and being here in the Dallas area, you can imagine there are tons of Z's on the road. I have seen NOT one other Varis ever on a Z other than mine! Does that mean there aren't any in the huge city of Dallas and surrounding areas? Nah. But obviously they are FAR from being "played out".
Great mod and I get mad compliments VERY often... But that's on the car as a whole.

My varis order is in process, can't wait for it to come. And I disagree with the air duct be "played out" as well since I am in a Local Z club and no one has one. I will probably be the only one to have it due to how the varis is always out of stock and not a lot of people want to cut a hole in the bumper(maybe they are leasing or whatever).
On a side note, has anyone seen or thought about getting the varis air duct painted the colour of your car? I'm thinking about a lip and when I get the lip painted, I was wondering if I could just ask the painters to paint the varis air duct as well as the head of 8 screws(4 extras just in case).
