It looks like a lot of the hoods I see on Supras around here. I'm not a huge fan of the style, but it could look okay if there were better pics, I guess...

I think anyone that does any mod to there car will increase the value is a fool. I also didn't do this for looks (although after I think I like it). I did this to:
- Increase air through the radiator and IC
- Let heat escape when the car is shut down
- Decrease the pressure in the engine bay to improve the grip at speed.

Yet, I think I decreased the value of my hood for most people, yet some will actually pay for this in the future (I think).

well a hood is easy to unbolt. Just take this one off, and bolt on your stock hood, and resell value escaulates back up.

By decreasing the air under the car, it causes a pressure differental between the top and bottom of the car. Causing the car to be pushed down to the ground at high speed.
Thus, increasing the grip of the car at speed.

Does that answer your question?

All I have to say is:
When I replaced my wheels, does my car resale value go to zero?

You are limited when you cut the hood, you need to open it up and take a look at the bottom. There is a skelton structure that supports the hood, you cannot cut through this. So, it the openings in the skelton match the veilside than you are in luck. Most likely it won't. Yet, I like the custom look better than buying something off the shelf.
Price:
SS Perferated plate - $50
If cut the hood and the plate yourself - free
My shop charged me $100 to cut the hood and the plate.
So overall really inexpesive

Does that answer your question?

the underbody of our Z (and most cars) creates a vacuum/ low pressure effect. itll will actually try to suck the car down.. aka our Zero lift. front air dam with our rear muffler successfully keep the car stable and glued (well. for thsoe that keep the stock rear muffler).
granted you still run the front undertray and have your nose slightly lower than the rear, the faster the air flows under the car, the more "grip" you will get. Venturi effect and the sort- but however, i disagree with your theory of a simple vent in the hood adding to increased grip on the car

depending on the shape of the venting on TOP of the car (aka. your hood) the vent might actually adversely affect your overall drag coefficient and disturb the air. why? air flowing over the nose, hood, windsheild, top.. there's a thin boundary layer of air that is there flowing over the entire body, in hopefully a smooth manner.... if you add a vent in the wrong place, the air exiting the vent, say coming out from the engine will disturb the air flow over that portion of the car... i think generally there is a thicker boundary layer immediately following the vent, causing some minor increases in air drag, a localized flow separation bubble and turbulence until it 'reattaches' to the flow over the rest of the car.. the turbulence eventually leads to reduction of the amount of force pushing down over the car...aka less grip. however, since the hood is so close the front windsheild, we get more added grip from that glass than the air pressure release from a hood vent... but i'm not an Aero/Fluid dynamics guy but i did stay at a holiday inn...

increased drag coefficient or not... i think it's a decent idea. There are a whole lot of other ways to devalue a car; imo this is just something *different*

the way i see it, at least it's functional for what he was looking for.. and the aerodynamics you're talking about don't come into play until you're far past legal speeds anyway

any chance we could get a few more shots from further away?

Pictures will be coming soon if I ever get off of work! Hopefully this weekend!!!

Rain - Since my Z is my play car, I don't drive it much in the rain.

As far as the areodynamics - let just say I disagree, this is not a wing we are talking about, this is a car. Most probable is there is no difference either way.

I also didn't do this to increase my value, I really don't want to sell my Z. If you look at all the work I have done to my car, I will never get the money out that I paid for. I just really have fun changing it - some people do drugs, I do mods, so to each his own.

Here are some pictures I took. When I was driving back from the track, it rained, no problems and that was driving in the rain for 1.5 hours.

Enjoy the pictures:

No problem, I was also thinking about painting them black, yet to get the color to match would be a pain in the a**. So I went with the SS look, matches my wheels

The vent has been working as I notice a big drop in Water and Oil temps after I did it. Also, you can feel waves of heat coming out when it is stopped.
