Default Black Z owners...

I need some advice on the best tint you guys have seen....I'm in cali but the Z is my weekend ride so I don't really care about legalities!

Mirror or smoke? 20% or 30%?

Just anyone who has theirs done...let me know what you think! I'm scheduled for anytime next week (guys liked the Z so I have an open ended slot ;-)

https://my350z.com/forum/showthread....highlight=tint

theres my SB with tint. all is explained in that thread, Im VERY happy with it. today driving home I was very comfortable rather than blinded when driving straight into a setting sun. it only started sucking when the sun came below the tint.

hehe screw 30%, way too light, all about 20% and 5%.

I'm going to do the Titanium tint (silverish lookin stuff).

5% back/mini-side windows, 20% doors and probably tint the whole windshield with 35% (I've had it in my truck for 6 years like that and man does it help w/ heat from the sun and protecting your dash).

Yeah, I want to get a tint on my black Z as well. I'm going to get whatever the legal limit is in my area, probably about 35%. How much should I expect to pay, and how long does it take?

So, I guess it is safe to assume by the tone of your post that looking into the bathroom mirror is a unpleasant or possibly distrubing experience for you?

The legal limit may be 35%, but with 35% tint on the car it will be illegal. Windows are tinted from the factory with a darkening rating of usually like 80%. Factory + 35% tint = 27% - 32% which if the police use the meter is illegal. The safe option is 50% tint, but you might as well just leave your window dirty!

Do what will make you happy, whatever the darkening level. Expect to pay anywhere from $150 - $200. It normally takes between 2 - 2.5 hours depending on if your shop uses a computer to make the cuts or if they are done by hand. My shop does everything by computer except for the windsheild, so the cuts are perfect! It takes a little longer because you want the car to sit for a little while in the heat for the adhesive to dry. Otherwise when you open the door, the corner will peel when the window lowers. Have the shop push the gaskets all the way down so they are "inside out". This will prevent that from happening.

itd be better if the shop removes the door panel and then can tint the window straight down to the bottom, under where the "seal" is.

Its smoked

All done and it looks great ;-) Im really happy with it. Just as my luck would have it...I got gas right across the street, pulled out and started back to work. Guess what?? YEP....cop sitting right there at the stoplight right where i was about to pull up. Can't roll down the windows (NEW TINT!) can't be to suspicious and stop 1/4 of his car so i just tried to sneak up next to him ;-) He did look over...didn't blink an eye and drove off....shew!!!!

She's home now...sleeping in the garage for the next few days till the tint dries!!!

5% back and ports, 25% sides, NOTHING on windshield!

If the weather is warm, just roll down the windows when they are near by. Won't help me for my windshield, but they can't put the meter on that.

I was thinking about doing a 50% full metallic tint on my black G35c. Metallic tint isn't the full mirror tint that you see on ghetto looking cars all the time, but it is reflective.
