Default disappointed with paint!!!

i know this has been addressed before. but, i am really disappointed in the front bumper paint. i recently moved to san diego, and keep my Z in the garage, and pretty much baby it. driving on the freeways down here i noticed the front is getting all pitted and tore up with nicks, and scratches. i try not to follow too close to anyone, but it is still happening. my 91 crx never had any chips from the road, except for big rocks, or road garbage. has anything been done about this from nissan? i guess ill have to buy an aftermarket bumper eventually. this sucks

Depends on how much you want done and how much prep work needs to be done to the product. The work is top notch though. The paint is soooo much better then the Nissan crap paint. I had my car completely repainted by them from top to bottom last year.

It's pretty damn thin. The infiniti is where they spend the money on the paint.

hence the more added cost to the car...
infiniti is to compete directly with German/European manufactuers... and to do so... you need quality...
Nissan on the other hand competes with Japanese and American competition...
Thus lesser quality goods

Not true.

Trust me, the infiniti's paint is of the same quality and thickness as the Nissan's are.

Yup, I can vouch for that; Infiniti's paint is no different at all.

Man, you moved to a great town; my parents live out there now. Hope to move there myself. I know San Diego roads are a lot cleaner than Houston roads as far as all that crap is concerned.

Hey, if you haven't been, you need to go for a nice weekend day cruise and drive up to Julian via Sunrise Highway; that road is a blast!

No, welcome to ALL new car paints. All the manufacturers went to thinner paint. You'll read threads *****ing about paint chipping really easy on ALL the car message boards. I think it had something to do with more stringent EPA regulations or something like that. Or the manufacturers could have just used less or cheaper paint to save a buck. Clear bra or a quality repaint seem to be the only answers.

also to consider another fact that our car is low so it's hard to avoid chipping issue.
