Re-moving Mirrors

I would like to remove the side mirrors and have the ugly, fading black pieces, painted to match the car. How do you remove them. And yes, I've searched.

pull of the tweeter pillar that inside your car,there should be 2 or 3 bolts that you undo and whola there you go.
