I wouldn't call that "rice". I just find them cheesy and you might be mistaken for the "Civic Generation".

I've never called anyone's car 'rice" on this forum yet. I'm waiting for a special occasion: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rice_car

"The term rice burner or rice car most often refers to automobiles (usually economy cars) that have the appearance of a customized or high performance car, but often have little or no functional modifications applied, such as an improved engine, suspension, or brakes."

That link is a good read. I think the word "rice" is so distorted now that it is just used to show your dislike for someone else's taste.

See, I'm waiting for a forum member to do something like this:

I don't consider it rice; since they're the J-spec tails.

If you have to ask ....

Rice? No. It's not imitating or posing as something its not. For god's sake, its a tailight.

Poor taste? Absolutely.

You're welcome.

$350.00 at Performance Nissan. Buy the 06 OEM tails, now those are NICE. They plug in at five minutes per side.

aren't clear tail lights illegal in most states? I guess the leds could be red making it legal but I didn't read the page, just looked at the pic.

I've read the DOT regulations and the California ones that are also available on-line. There are definite limits on colors that are legally displayed and which directions that they're allowed to face. These look like the top is clear - which would be legal for backing lights but not for brakes. Here in California (oddly enough and IIRC) clear lights are alright for turn indicators. I was slightly worried when I changed my fronts from yellow bulbs to amber LEDs that aren't as yellow as the stock ones. From what I read and recall no problem. The lower part of these look red which would be for the brakes.

Personally if I were going to go LEDs and not just drop the clusters in I would go with the '06 US DOT approved lights. I rarely go looking for reasons for a police stop ... for more than .45 reasons that I can think of off the top of my pointed head.

Any one think these would look good if someone opened them up and painted the chrome area black? Is it possible?

HEY, THATS MY RIDE AND ITS NOT RICE!!!! I think its really sporty!! I mean look how much downforce i get, and that scoop for the engine is ported directry into the plenum! Not really sure yet why i put the external revcounter facing FROM the driver seat though...

Hehe, seriously good link though to have the propper "definition" of rice

When it comes to the "chromeish" rears, i dont they they are "rice" as they are factory Nissan JDM, but personally i dont like chrome as its just for show and dosent hold any practical purpose, something i dont want to attract attention.

Like it has been mentioned, if you want to fix up the rear lights go for the '06 OEM led versions (all red)!

Whats wrong with the stock lights? They dont cost 500 bucks either!
Shy do people want to pay to look ****ter?
Here are some things you can buy for less then 500 bucks that will be much more fun:
1. New Xbox and games
2. Glock automatic
3. Laptop
4. Massage at a massage parlor ( I dont mean a back rub neither)
5. Zaino polish to make your Z look even better
6. Pop charger to make your already fast Z sound faster and add what 5 HP?

As you can see for 500 dollars you can have allot of fun and keep your car from looking rice.
The Z should stay stock any changes are a waste of money and most I have seen are in bad taste and reduce the resale value.
