Default OEM Spoiler installation just using double sided tape

I have an OEM Spoiler and would want to install on my car.
But don't want to drill any holes, I was thinking of cutting the bolt and just use double sided tape.

Any advise on this if this would hold up and would be a great idea.?

do a search

it's not a problem... lots have done it before, including me... just make sure you use body-kit grade double-sided tape. Proform or 3m; they're very sticky... handles over 5lbs per square inch

Can you get this tape at home depot or does it have to be body shop?

I'm planning to do an install this weekend for a friend. Anyone know or have a picture of how far the stock spoiler sits from the back?

AFAIK, a body shop or a speciality shop dealing with autobody repair (i got mine from the latter).

Installation is painless.

1) Saw off the mounting bolts, then line the inside edges of the spoiler with tape; make sure you only peel the side that needs to adhere to the spoiler.
2) Position the spoiler over the trunk. You'll find that there's only about an inch or so on the entire trunk where the curve of the spoiler matches the curve of the hatch. It's an OEM part afterall.
3) If your'e nitpicky, find a track model Z with the OEM spoiler installed and measure the distances
4) When you've finalized the mounting point, use masking tape to mark the edges on your hatch
5) With one hand holding the spoiler in place, begin peeling the adhesive backing. Keep gentle pressure on the spoiler with your other hand so it doesn't shift position.
6) Once all the backing has been peeled off and the spoiler is now attached to your trunk, apply light pressure on it for about 10-15 mins. You might want to use a paper-weight. Just make sure to pad it.

Done.

forgot to mention... prep your hatch first if there's a lot of wax on it with dawn and a clay-bar

If you are thinking of installing the spoiler with just the double sided tape you might have to cut the bolts under the spoiler. I was at the dealer trying to get an oil change, and i ask the mechanic to cut the bolts for me. I ended up giving him five bucks.

The key is prepping the surface.
