Sidemarker / Signal in mirrors
Hey,
I have always had sidemarkers on all my previous cars. I would LOVE to have a set molded into our side mirrors like your typical Mercedes. I just dont want the "Z RING" Z4 style nor the universal fender cutins style. I have searched high and low looking for something and have come up empty handed. Any ideas???

Seeeeeeeee?! I told you they would look A LOT better than those nasty ones I did myself. That's why I kept trying to let everyone know that those pics are just a "representation" of what they'll look like. We'll see tomorrow how the "real" pieces look. At least without the paint on anyway. If I do get some pieces in my hands tomorrow, I may try and throw some paint on a few for some pics.

That IS really neat. Probably the best I've seen yet, but I REALLY want something in my side mirrors. I envision a long thin clear strip (single or double row of clear to amber LED's) molded and following the curvature of the mirror lengthwise....OR a smaller signal in clear molded more into the outer edge of the mirror. sigh...anyone have phenominal lexan molding skils?

I wonder if there are any car mirrors out there that already have the signals molded in that would look good and could me modified to fit on the Z. That might be worth looking into. Other than Mercedes...Can you guys think of anyother cars with them?
--Myke - If you think about it keep me up to date once you get some final pics of your markers. I dont ever venture away from this site. Thaks for the replies

Hmmmm...that would definitely be a "one-off" project. It's possible though. We need to focus on the Zignalz right now. If things go well with them, we may look into doing something like that. Leaning more towards the OEM style though, since there a more of them around. IF we do go that route, we could probably do a "special" set for you (Veilside).

YAAAYYYYY, let me know if you think it might be possible. I think I might go take some measurements of the mounting points on that XA mirror. That looks nice!! I have some experience with fiberglassing and could possibly make that work. This has got to be an easier route than fabbing something into the stock mirror.

And why does it have the signal in the mirror AND a sidemarker on the fender??

boogiemyke, how do your zignals look during the day? The videos you had up were all at night... do they show up well in the sun? I've been looking at an option of adding some kind of sidemarkers for a while now since right from the side no one can tell we're signaling.

They're just as, if not more, visible than the side markers on BMW's. Of course, they're not nearly as bright during the day as they are at night. You can definitely see them though. I've watched some of the OEM turn signals (like on BMW's as mentioned) and sometimes they are just barely visible during the day.
