Well... last Wednesday some idiot decided to shoot the passenger side fender of my Z with a pellet gun Needless to say, I haven't found out who that person was, as I am able to write this and not being held by the local authorities. The ONLY good side of this is that it's time for the Z to go to the body shop and while it's there I'm thinking of changing a few things. So here is where I need everyone's help, this is my car now, less the pellet damage...

I'm thinking that it is finally time to paint the lip, with the complete Nismo kit being in my near future. And possibly the mirror housings, much like Bubble's Z(pics @ bottom of page...again Bubble, your car is perfect ) As you can see I've got the black Kazera's and the smoked lens, I really like the DB and black look, so should I...

Paint the lip and the mirror housings DB...

Paint the lip DB and leave the mirror housings stock...

Paint the lip a semi-gloss black and leave the mirror housings stock...

Suggestions...anyone?!

I'm curious to see what the complete Nismo kit would look like in a semi-gloss black with the rest of the Z being DB, sort of like the Nismo S-Tune package below...

get the lip painted gloss black
leave the housing black to accent


whats semi-gloss

 

It's a slightly glossed black... not quite as reflective as full gloss black

 

Paint the mirror housings. Look really nice.

 

Pass on painting the mirror housing, paint the lip DB.
-or-
Pass on painting the mirror housing, paint the lip super black and paint the center of the roof as well. Seen this on a few members cars and looks great, but borderline rice depending on the rest of the mods for looks.

Are you still getting diffrent wheels as well? They may sway what I think too.

 

well I recently took my car to the body shop because of the hurricane and painted both the mirror housing and the handles the same color of the car, and it looks really nice especially if you're going to put a graphic

 

The Nismo's have crossed my mind, but I think I'm going to stay with the Kazera's or either the gunmetal SSR's. I'm starting to think that I may leave the mirror's stock, and I'd really like to see what it could look like with the whole kit being black. Too many decision's!!!!

 

i think if you are getting the complete nismo kit, i'd paint the entire kit db.
but if you are just doing the front lip, then maybe paint the sides of the lip db and paint the center portion (underneath the grille area) black. i've seen a few v1 lips like that and i think it looks pretty nice.


as for the mirror housings, its not something thats really really noticable to me. so if insurance is picking up the tab, then sure paint 'em. but if you have to pay out of pocket, then i don't think its worth it.

 

Well, it's going in the shop Monday morning and as of now, I plan to leave the mirror's stock, and paint the lip DB, though the sides of the lip is a good idea too!
