CF + Paint = Disaster?
a few bodyshops told me that the paint "moves" or something like that...
just wondering for those who have painted your CF.. what's the status on your job and can you fill me in with some tips / tricks?

moves? NO. Painting CF will cost more since they have to sand down the clear coat then prep then paint then clear coat again.
I have my Seibon CF hood paint and color match perfect. No problem so far. I don't have to worry about the fading issue.

Depending on the finish, you might want to have it primed and blocked to make it perfectly smooth. Typically CF hoods have a wave that can not be sanded out. If you prime and block the hood your hood will be as smooth as stock. You can see this in reflections on a CF hood. Just a tip.

Considering the Z hood is made of aluminum, the only reason to get a CF hood is for looks or ventilation purposes if it has a scoop.
As for painting, I had my CF hood painted on my Prelude and it was fine. Not sure how they did it, but they did a great job.

I weighed my OEM hood and it weighed 22 lbs. I weighed my Seibon VT Style CF hood and it weighed 23 lbs. Just an FYI. a CF hood on our car is only good for ventilation or looks and NOT weight savings!!
