Default $1.50 vdc

well after a long time searching and asking question I finally figured out which is the power wire for the vdc. I anyone else is interested in doing this, this is how to do it. The power wire is the orange wire on the plug in the center console( under the coin tray). All I did is cut the wire, and hook the two leads from the switch to the two ends of the orange wire. Then I put the switch throught the access hole for the ebrake, drilled a hole in the coin tray, and screwed the switch on. DONE. Cheaper than the controller to remember when you have vdc on or off, and you dont have to take the console out to plug and unplug whenever you want it on or off. here are some pics

So what exactly is the point of this mod? Does this remember to keep VDC on or off when you restart the car like the KP Tech. module?

Also, is this the same for TCS? I hate having to turn TCS off each time I start the car. I would rather not have to do this each time.

not sure about the tcs but yes when the switch is off, it stays off untill you turn it on(you have to restart the car though). I was scared at first cause when I first started the car the ABS light was on, but after a few seconds it turned off.

Ya I put the sticker on just for the hell of it, and I did search but couldnt find it. Ya its a 2 pole single throw switch, well it already has the two lead wires on it.

I was planning to do this here pretty soon. Quick question, you can turn the VDC off on the fly, but to turn it back on you have to restart correct? Also the other VDC on off button still works correct?

yes you can turn it off at any time, and yes you have to restart the car to turn it back on. as long as the vdc is on then the factory button still works.

Nice, i will do this right away!

There is hardly anything more annoying then when you loose a redlight race because you forgotten to switch off the damn VDC (it completly cuts out for 1-2 seconds if you are to rough comming into 2:nd gear)... Not to mention when you turn into a tight courner flooring and flicking expecting the rear to come out...

Btw, what happes to the dashboard light when you "hard" switch it off, will it still light up to "warn" that the VDC is off? (at night that light is quite annoying)

Does this mod completely disable VDC? Is this just like that mod one of the site sponsors was selling?

ya this completely disables it, just like unpluging it, and when it is switched off both the vdc off light and the SLIP light is on untill you turn it back on.

I just completed this mod on my car, but with a nice rocker switch with red LED. I turned on the car and toggled it a few times and the VDC and SLIP lights came on. Too bad I just finished my camber arm and toe bolt install, so my rears are all off. I'll try it out after the alignment and let everyone know how it works.

My camera sucks in the dark. Not the best pics, but you get the point. I'm going to try to get the car in tomorrow for the alignment and hopefully drive around with vdc killed.

Oh, and I actually took the time to solder the spliced wires and shrink wrap it all. To cut the hole in the bottom of the ashtray, I used a Dremel with a standard drill attachment. It turned out to be a very clean installation.

While I was under there I also adjusted my hand brake.

Anyone have some directions for disassembling the center console? I've searched and I've seen some sort of rough descriptions from memory but no step by step disassembly instructions. I'm going to take it apart right now so I'll probably figure it out but just in case if someone knows could you post it up? Thanks!
