Default Pothole Bent my Rim CALTRAN Liable?

As many Norcal people know, we have had rain for 24 consecutive days. I picked up my boy saturday night at 4:00am after he wrecked is 1997 Supra and on our way back to San Jose I hit a pothole (which was not visable because odf the rain) and bent the lip on my my front passenger side rim. Will Caltran pay for this?

Yes, only if certain criteria is met, which basically means a PITA.

There had to be a documented problem with that pothole and some other info I'm missing check their site?

I should have did this for the Racing Hart that I had on my MR-2. The bump was so big that it caused my car to jump.

Yeah my friend with a G35 coupe bent in Sf challenges in a pot hole in Tampa Florida, and he had the city pay for his brand new rim. "front right passenger" rim that is. And the good new was that they wouldnt pay for a new volk they could only cover a brand new stock rim, Which cost more than one volk rims. So he got get some extra cash on the side =D.

I don't get it. How do you guys prove your story is correct? It couldn't be just as easy as filing a claim...or is it?

Haha wow, I just looked up where 87 was and it's not in California. I never realized other states had crappy roads minus Cali: icon38:

I can't even get a 1/4 mile from my house until I get potholes over here. They try to repair them and patch it up but then it always ends up a hole again..how do we say, "FAILED!" haha.

This is in a "good" area (Napa Valley) too, why do we pay taxes anyways. Weren't they supposed to use some of the state/federal money from gasoline tax and put that to use for road repair?!

They are liable to a degree, if you pursue them. Did they have cones at or near the pot hole?

No cones--I had a witness in the car and now it looks like my Dunlop FM901 got cut on the outside from the impact. There goes anothe $200.
