350z Aerodynamic = 200MHP?
Hey guys. I'm having an argument with my friend on the phone right now and he's claiming that the 350z aerodynamically sound to do 200mph without MAJOR body mods. What do you guys think?
Now given you have the needed engine mods with gearing and major upgrade to the suspension and add a wing or other large spoiler for downforce, I say it can. Am I crazy to think that way or what?

Poor idiot!
UPDATE: The video game showed that I was right for those who care about video game results.

I highly doubt that it is....
at 155 (the fastest ive gone... i think it cuts off at 156 if im correct) the back end wasnt very stable and the car felt like it was floating...
another 50mph and i think ull have a major problem, and loss of control would be pundent.

Once I was hugging a curve at about 130mph (on Playstation
) and the car was not responding well to my steering inputs until I slowed down. My tyre width is 245/275, just like nismo recommends, so I don't believe that the staggered setup was responsible for understeer. Could be my nose was beginning to lift...
As per the orange Z that crashed, it went that fast on a 20 mile straight segment of the Silver State Classic Open Road Challenge, so the question should be "is the Z going to be controllable at 200mph".

I dont know if the Z will hit 200mph or get close without body parts flying off (rear bumper or mudflaps maybe?)... but the car does seem very smooth. 200mph smooth? I don't know.
I believe Powerhouse Amuse got their Z to do 270kmh, which is about 170mph, with their bodykit, with no bits flying off. Also bear in mind that was NA, all their own bolt on parts, at only 350PS, which is about 290whp, and stock gearing. Imagine with an extra 100 ponies, and a taller final drive. 200mph, no problem.
The 03-05 coupe has a drag coefficient of .30. The Track model with underbody diffusers has a drag coefficient of .29.
This is equivalent to the modern Porsche 911.
Yeah, I think it's capable... with some taller gears.

Interesting topic.
I know someone (with a HUGE A$$ WING) that does over 160+ mph from time to time and says it is a stable as can be. With only aftermarket body kit and of course a Greddy TT setup running 500hp.
As for the gearing. I know I can hit about 105+ in 3rd before hitting the rev limiter and having to upshift at the end of my ¼ run. Do we think the remaining 3 gears and a boatload of boost will not get us to 200mph?
Call me a newb, but I figure it can hit 200mph at the uppermost limits with a heavily built engine and boost without having to change the gearing. And with the right body kit, it should be more stable then most cars at that speed.

I guess I have some serious body mods now, but at 155(for about 10 miles in Texas) stock(03 Track) the car felt fine and even felt like it had the ability to go faster. On the way from AAM to NJ I took it to about 140 (with the Mastergrade kit, Tein coilovers, and Stillen Sways) and the car felt stable as if used to when I would be doing 50. I can't wait to get the Twins then head back down to Texas...Plan on trying to hit 200MPH and all of that should be done by the end of the summer so I will let you all know then how it went.
