Default Z bar Uncovered

Has anyone stripped down all the plastic covers of the rear strut brace?

Any pics of it stripped down?

It seems awefully padded up.

I was thinking maybe you could get rid of all the huge plastic casing and replaceit with a Bit of Polished Bling , and it would give you more room for two sets of Golf Clubs.

I'm also curious as to whats hiding under there. How phat it is.

Or is it a Weasel piece of ugly steel covered up like a Batman suit, to bulk it up to look like soemthing?

Who's idea was it to instruct Z owners in the way of stowing multiple golf bags?

Why not groceries? Why not dead hookers? What if I need to be instructed on stowing 2 pool sticks?! This is a travesty.... lol

Yeah, like there was any other way to put two sets in.

But they even mess up the one set. If you put two sets in fine like the diagram, why bother trying to jam one set under the bar on the diagonal. One set is a breeze.

They drop straight in the rear section.

But alas, WHAT is under all that plastic?

Is it a small piece of steel ? Or a fat wide one?

Can it be stripped down to a sensible size, or better still replaced with a shiny one with no covers at all?

I know I've seen pictures of it somewhere. Removing the cover doesn't get you much extra space.

Sweet, its good to see its a fair chunk of metal.

It gives me even more respect for the car, knowing that something serious is underneath and it wasn't just for show.

What did that race car Replace it With ???

I would think that the stock boxed bar would be more rigid. Why not just weld the cage to the stock strut bar...?

that actually looks like it would work pretty well. a cross brace would lock it all in though and be bullet proof.

you must be joking. no judge in his right mind would approve a cage that "incorporated" the factory strut. rules are rules.

What would be the difference between welding the cage to the Z stock rear strut bar opposed to welding the cage to the floor board from a technical point of view?

I would think that the Z strut bar is more ridged than the floor board.

Maybe more weight savings? Someone actually did the math?

Getting to the shock/damper towers without the stock box would be as simple as popping the trunk.

Yeah well that would be really simple, though i mean from a stock setup perspective. How much do you need to strip and from where can you reach the bolts??
