Tinting problems
Does anyone have problems w/ their window tint? The tint on my driver side window is starting to peel. The person who did the tint told me that this might happen because of the windows slight movement when the door is open/closed. Either he doesn't know how to tint the Z, or the Z is difficult to tint because of the windows sealing mechanism.
As I had posted previously. When I had my windows tinted the front of the driver side window (Up by the side view) rolled up. I took it back the next day and litteraly watched the guy re-tint the window 5 TIMES and the same thing happened every time. In the end they had to round off the tip of the front corner and the problem never happened again.
The way the window rolls down is a feature on other luxury cars this isn't new.

he needs to either remove the door panel, or push the seal down into the door, either way, he needs to tint THE WHOLE WINDOW, including the part that would be covered when the window is slightly down, as well as a little bit below that so it doesnt peel. thats how it should be done.
when we did my tinting (my tinter is unbelievably good, btw), we realized that we didn't go down far enough below the seal, and that caused the front of the window (near the mirror) to peel back - we did the passenger window properly (tinted further down below the seal) and that window is perfect. in the spring we'll re-do the driver window; no point in messing with it now, as the tint cures better in warmer weather.

The tip of the front corner were rounded off, and that is where it's beginning to peal. The passenger side is fine since the door wasn't frequently opened.
I'm going to have both front windows re-tinted. Chaning from 35% to 25% front, and 15% side and back. IMO the Super Black looks better w/ darker tint.

Just got mine tinted today. This tinter has done 4 of my cars (including an M3 with same window sealing mechanism) and he did an excellent job on all cars, including the 350. Very reasonable price of $165 for all windows (except wind shield), using Solar Gard tint film with life time warranty, in Orange County, CA.
He pushed about half inch into the lower part of the window without dismantling the door panel. It looks great.
One important information he always advised me to do after each tint job is to leave the car alone for at least 24 hours to let the tint set and dry. It may take a little longer to set in colder climate places.
Always followed his advice and I never had any problems with the tint.
