Default How do u deal with CF hood

For those who have cf hoods, how do u prevent from getting messed up with the sun. As far as i know, CF does get messed up with the sun over time even with a clearcoat...... Thanks guys.

I think you just cry.... I have a hood partialy candycoated/painted red and all that has messed up cloudy spots sitting in my garage

Red looks great w CF hood. Sorry to hear that.

I dont think there's much you can do to deal with it other than use a good wax that prevents UV damage (zaino is garanteed to), make sure you park indoors and prevent sudden changes in temperature of the paint. Since its black parking it in the sun makes it hot. I think most of the yellowing is from poor clearcoat and UV damage.

garage? i've had mine for prolly 2yrs w/o problems, but i garage it. i know another guy who had my same hood but didn't garage it, and it faded badly.

Do they make high quality clearcoats w/ UV protection built in? It might be worthwhile to have the hood stripped and a higher quality clearcoat applied if you want to keep the hood for a long time.

I dont know..... I waxed it but lived in Georgia at the time.....100 degree weather and while I worked the car sat in the sun..the fading was quick tho in a matter of months..

clear coat it twice a year will help. HOwever, it is expensive to srpay clear coat.
