And every shift is not always the same. You also have the factor of missing a gear. And the reaction wont be them same.

I like the manual because you r always in control and its really fun but when you talk about serious horsepower IMO nothing beets an AT.

Im just dying for some one to upgrade the Z AT tranny to handle 800 rwhp plus.

Also one little thing look at the manuals gearing and look at the AT gearing the manual is more aggressive due to its 6 gears we AT have longer gears to accomplish almost the same top speed as the manual. So with longer gears and low power like our cars have its makes it harder to go through the gears compared to the manuals which are shorter.
That is true. A lot also has to do with the Final Drive Gearing. A 5AT with a 3.5fd is Quicker than the 6MT with the 3.5fd that is standard.

Aside from that, in spirited driving through the mountains with a lot of hair pin turns I find the quick shifts of the 5AT to be quite helpful in manual mode, as you are not "rowing" gears so much as selecting the correct gear for the upcomming turn and really only upshifting for straightaways.

I am at Brooklyn FYI.
If you want to work on a kit, I can volunteer my car...

do some research. if you throw a stillen auto tyranny valve body upgrade and the 3.5 final drive on an auto i'm confident it will at the least be slightly better than a manual. i would think far better if you're talking acceleration; which is the argument most people try to make when comparing AT vs MT.

i would even think an auto with a reflash would handle a manual easily. bumping up the rev limiter to 7200-7300 does wonders on any car. don't believe me? take an MT non-flash and go against a flashed AT.

and we're forgetting the most important factor. most MT owners lack in the shifting department where it would even make much of a difference anyway. just having an MT doesn't mean anything if you can't do it justice.

But then they probably wouldn't be in a Z anymore. I think it's cool mod for cats with autos that want to do it. Got any more pics of that Z in the article?

not a bad idea

i bought my dad the brabus steeringwheel with paddle shifter for his SL55 - he loves it

my old Alfa 156 had a sequential clutchless manual box with paddle shifters from factory, not some crappy torque converter auto
