Default Cracked front bumper (pics)

hello everyone, i hit a pothole and my front passenger side wheel dipped down into a pothole. the question is, is this repairable? the crack is under the side reflectors and is about 2 inches from the bottom. i am going to take it to a body shot soon but was looking for some answers from you guys. thanks for the help.

Well a crack in a fender is a terrible thing for any motorist. I'm not quite getting it. So you hit a pothole and then your passenger side wheel dipped down into the pothole? Once the wheel was in the pothole what happened next.

What did the crunch sound like? If it was somewhat high pitched you'll be ok. If it was low pitched you'll prolly end up having to replace the front bumper depending on the decibel of the crunch.

Also in order to accurately diagnose your troubling dilemma, photographs are a huge help so we can visually see the damage and what the heck you're talking about.

That doesn't look too bad. That's what about a 3in crack? That's definitely repairable. might be somewhat costly but at least it's pretty much out of the way.

i hope it can be fixed. my z was just side swiped and i got all the insurance stuff ready. i am going to drop it off a my shop on monday and decided to take my lip spoiler off and switch the look up with a c/f finisher. i think it will match my varis duct well.

but you guys think it can be fixed? i really don't want to buy a new bumper. thanks

Damn that looks harsh. You might as well get a new front bumper or like the others said... get a front lip to cover up that crack.

that must have been one heck of a deep pothole because judging from the photos, it appears your not exceptionally low. hrm, bodyshop knows best i guess, but I always assumed that repairing abs plastic or polyurethane was not the best idea by means of bondo...

A front lip is stylin' Urethane in a must. Greddy is brittle and cracks easy. Suggest a Stillen or other more nimble urethane lip/spoiler. So you have drop springs? Most lips will require special and extra attention to dips, driveways & bumps (not to mention...pot holes)!

However, installing/painting a lip is same or often more $$ than replacing the OEM bumper. Be sure to get multiple estimates. I tend to be **** when it comes to my Z, I'm on lip 2, OEM bumper 3. PM me if you want to discuss experiences with all.

Good luck in what ever you choose and SO sorry to hear that you have to deal with bad luck and repairs on your lil' Z car.

Love your Z!

too bad you live in jersey.. if you were local, I would've sold you my stock rear bumper, which is also chrome silver and it perfect condition (no rock chips or scratches).

maybe I mistunderstood.. you say it was the front? I had a front as well, but that was sold.. you should look into buying somebody elses.. you probably can pick one up for $200 ish. much cheaper than repairing it and also better.

yeah
too bad you're not in SoCal - I'd give you a good price on my extra OEM front bumper...uh, yeah, well, ok so it's not silver....

The thought counts for something, eh?

You should be able to get a brand spankin' new one for $230

Shoot! That's nuth'in we can't fix here at Reggies Redneck Body Repairs. Little duck tape here. Slap some JB Weld on her. Can of some high quality silver Rust-Oleum and a good spit shine! Purtty as new!

Man for real.. We all hate seeing a nice ride, Z or not, get damage. What ever happened to vehicle registration, wheel tax, sales tax, and taxes on the gas we pay going to maintain our roads?

P.S. Also you might want to report to the local DoT that the Grand Canyon seems to have suddenly sprung up on 32nd and Dover Ave. I'm sure Arizona is going to be pissed when they find it missing!

bumper is repairable. a lot of body shops will tell you that it's going to need to be replaced but they have come a long way in the ability to repair bumper covers. that's just my 2 cents.
