From what is the roof panel made? Steel? Aluminum? Unlike most cars I'm yet to see a carbon fibre roof panel available for the Z, so my guess is that it's aluminum. I was thinking if it was steel I could replace it with a carbon fibre one to lose all that weight. If it's aluminum it's not worth it.
Don't know but a simple magnet will tell you if it is steel or aluminum. You are going to replace the roof with one that is carbon fiber to save weight? I doubt it. One, you will compromise the structural integrity of the car. Two, the cost is prohibitive. Three, there are more simple ways to reduce weight.
Mastergrade makes a cf cover, but it goes on top, doesn't replace it. Unlike most cars? What car do they make a CF roof panel for? The only ones I know of are convertibles like s2000s.
