I'm wanting to color match my lights soon and need something cleared up. If I paint them like Blue Batmobile did, then I'm fine right? I want to paint as much as I can without hindering my lighting.

If you're painting the 03-05 version like how Bat did his, then yes you'll be fine. The key thing for the 03-05 units is that you don't want to paint the reflector behind the main bulb. You can paint it behind the turn signal bulb though & it should still be bright enough.

That's what I was thinking. Thanks for assuring me of this. Now I just have to get my confidence up enough to take them apart. I really don't want to screw up the lights.

Key things to just remember is:

* Don't touch any of the bulbs with your bare hands (oil from your fingers may cause it to burn out especially the HID bulb). I would suggest wearing some latex gloves.
* Make sure you seal it properly. I'd suggest to buy extra silicone & add some after you reseal it.
* Before resealing it, make sure the inner portion of the glass is CLEAN & the housing free of dust. Once you reseal it, it's there to stay unless you re-open them again which will be a real pain.
* Be careful of the outer glass since you can easily scratch it while you're working on it. Some masking tape (blue stuff) helps a lot.

Good luck!

Exactly, just be careful, and don't paint the bottom reflector piece, and all will be GREAT! Good luck and happy modding!

You will have moisture build up due to air leaks if the lamps are not properly sealed. This can cause alot of issues...

If you rather have someone with experience do the work, PM me to discuss options.

I'm not here to argue, just share my experience with my headlights.

Here are my points:
With my entire headlights painted I CAN SEE AT NIGHT. I agree it isn't as good as if I didn't paint the reflectors, but again, I promise you I can see.
My only purpose of the post was to say you don't have to spend upwards of $1K to get the 06' headlights if you want to paint the whole light. Thats all. Just wanted to put that option out there.
Thats fine, I'm sure everyone understands that light will glow from your car when you turn on your headlamps. But, those who want maximum light output and proper light distribution dont do modifications to make their lights perform worse than stock.

IMO, any modification that reduces light output and visibility is a just weak. Vinyl overlays. Tinted headlamp covers. Eh...

Well I finally grew the *****. My passenger side headlight is currently in the oven for 12 minutes. I just hope Ricks2K's instructions are right. I set it a little low, at 200^, for 12 minutes. I'll let you guys know how it goes.

after you take off ALL the screws, just pull open firmly. You will need a bit of force. The first one will take a while, but the second one will be a snap.

Good luck!

I just got the second one in the oven. It's not half as bad as I was expecting. Not counting the time it was in the oven I messes with it maybe 5 minutes. I had to do it in halves though.

I just got the second one disassembled. Now comes the hard part, deciding what to do with the reflectors/difussors. I'll either leave them orange or paint them. I just don't want to get hassled for not having an orange reflector, since I've got clear bumper reflectors too. Decisions, decisions.

Also I'll be sure to get pics up when I get all my body work done. For those who didn't know I'm in the process of repainting the car. I just have to fix a few spots in my rear bumper cover and rocker moulding before I paint them. I hope to have it all painted by the end of the week.
