Default Buying 2005 or 2006 350Z - questions

Hi everyone,

New to this forum... I am going to buy a 2005 or 2006 used 350Z coupe.... want one with under 10K miles... wondering if the some knowledgable folks on this forum can help me with the following questions:

1) With a 2005, how much depreciation should i expect on a 350Z in good condition? For example, if the base model for the 350Z for 2006 is approx $27K, how much would a 2005 in good condition go for with approx 10K miles? I know it depends on many factors such as the location where you are buying it, whether it's from a private deal or a dealership etc... but how much depreciation should i expect?

2) I've noticed that some of the body kits only show that it's good for the 03-04 models or 03-05 models.... is there a difference in the shape of the 06? I thought the 06 only had minor changes to the headlights and tail lights but shouldn't a body kit that fits an 03 also fit an 06?

Thanks in advance for the help.

I'm a newbie too, but did a lot of comparing between the '05 and '06's when deciding to buy last Oct. or wait and order a new '06. I didn't care much about the depreciation as I keep a car so long it makes little difference to me, nor can I help with possible mods(there are experts on this forum) but here are some differences you might consider if relevent to you.
1. The 06 headlights saved me from having to buy fog lights which I use for spotting deer where I live. The bi-xenons are awesome, and fogs would be redundant.
2. The '06 tail lights must be worth a few hundred as so many 2003-2005 Z owners were waiting to retrofit theirs with the new LEDs. They are brighter and longer lasting.
3. The redesigned center console and door panels of the '06 were more to my liking for storage, practicality and I liked the lighted cupholders in the doors.
4. With a manual tranny you get 300hp in all 2006 models, if automatic then there is no difference with the 2005's.
5. Finally, with the extras I wanted, some became standard on the 2006 model (touring) such that the 2006 wasn't going to cost me more even though the base invoice increased a bit.
Good luck in your pursuit.

Check KBB.com for 05 values. Depreciation should be about the same for both but I suspect the 06 might keep it's value a bit more because of the interior revisions.

And as far as I know, I agree with the above post about the body kits. The front lip was the only real change. I don't think they changed any dimensions or anything else on the sides or rear.

If you are looking for a used 2006, you are better off getting a new one, as the car hasnt depreciated enough to make it worth buying used.
