After you take the antenna off you will need some channel locks and a rag. There is a little metal piece above the base. It should have two slots in it. Use the channel locks to screw it off using the rag to protect it. Then just pull the base out after you get the metal piece screwed off. Spray it with some adhesion promoter about 5 minutes before you paint it.

Just make sure you clean the base off real good. For the actual antenna you need to scuff it with a red scotch pad from an auto body retailer. After it's all been scuffed you can wipe it down good and spray it.

For any raw plastic all you have to do is wipe it down good (ideally with a PPG prep wipe) then spray it with the adhesion promoter.
