Perhaps, but that's going to put it out of most people's reach. I bet shipping is outrageous, too. Hopefully a US company will be "inspired" by the design and come up with something "very similar". I just like the look; I'd be happy with FRP. Needs to have a real glass window, though, IMO (dunno if the Strosek one does or not).

I would want a real glass window also. Punkster is the man to make a duplicate. Personally, CF is what I want, but FRP would be second choice. Shipping from Germany will be high, no doubt.

As long as we're making requests, it's be ideal for the window to have a defroster element that the factory plug will jack right into... of course I'd be happy without (I don't live in a climate where it's ever neccesary to use the defroster).

I'd also prefer that the rear lip spoiler NOT be integrated into the hatch; that the rear of it replicate the OEM contours. That way you could still add your own wing of choice.

+1 defroster
Could be a problem mounting a wing to CF, experts step in here, doesn't it need additional support moulded in?
I am personally ok with the look (OEM contour wing).

Dry carbon may be overkill, the loss of the huge rear window glass will be a major weight savings.

it looks like it goes over the existing hatch, so to mount the wing it probrably punches the hole through both the CF piece and the rear hatch underneath it.

i just wish they made the whole hatch replacement, as opposed to this "half" hatch thing, it's not a whole much more materials to make the c pillars right?

Well, seeing as how Strosek has a wing mounted to theirs, I'd either say it's fine or there is already support molded in (so the same consideration should be made on a replica).

As far as the molded in lip vs. stock hatch contour, just saying it would be simpler for a replica to be fabricated with stock hatch contour (a stock hatch would be used to make the mold to be further modified) and give people more wing options. This would also make the piece unique and it wouldn't be a blatant rip-off of Strosek's piece.

NO! You're being confused by the paint job; it is a complete replacement hatch. Here is an unpainted pic:

Pretty darned sweet looking with just the OEM contour... I'd be in for FRP or CF if someone makes a replica?

Just noticed from the pic I posted above that it looks like the Strosek hatch has a plexiglass or lexan window. Good for weight (and cost); but cheap looking and easily scratched. If a US company decided to make something similar, maybe offer a choice between glass and plastic, depending on what the customer is after?

Man, I wish I had the resources to make these things; I'd go into business for myself with all these ideas...

Well, no, of course it's not the same; the Strosek piece is a complete CF hatch replacement, inclusive of the newly designed rear window (which looks to be lexan in the pics).
