No way--you'll be fine!! That Nismo kit is not very low @ all--it just flares on the side and not very much in the front!! Even w/ the Nismo S-Tune sus...it still won't be low

You have nothing to worry about as far as scrubbing or anything like that"bottom'ing out"--Don't even sweat it

theres a post on here w/ a guy w/ 18" LM-GT Nismo wheels and that suspension and to tell you the truth--I couldn't even tell it was lowered--so that kit won't do nothing to make it Gangsta Low!!

Well, not exactly 1", but close since it is suppose to lower it by 20mm.

I managed to bottom out my car STOCK on a speed bump a couple of days ago. It was a real killer though.

With the Nismo S-tune, you'll just have to know the cars limits. There is always some idiot who decides a speed bump needs to be way too tall. You just gotta drive around them

I gotta say, the Z is fairly low. I've bottomed out on a speed bump or two, along with a few other small objects.

A lowered Z with a low front lip is really going to be in for it.

aren't you supposed to slow down for speed bumps?

the car is fine right now. personally i think it could be a little lower to cover the wheel fender gap.

It's hard to say what too low is. If you have owned sports cars before that have a low stance the Z33 is actually pretty tall. I owned two Z32 twin turbos and they were much closer to the ground. You had to watch curbs and steep drives every once in a while or it would scrape. I haven't measured but my Z33 looks to have a couple of inches greater ground clearance. Even the pics I've seen of Skidazzles car makes it look to have greater clearance than a stock Z32 - and he lowered his an inch or so.

Me? I'm lowering mine an inch. But I'm used to driving cars that are at risk of bottoming. So dont hit speed bumps at speed, watch steep drives and stop short of curbs when you park. Even lowered an inch the new Z is nowhere near as low as many sports cars...

Alright - lets get down to it here. WHAT IS TOO LOW??!??! Too low in Southern California could be 2", versus in Northern California, where they get more rain, hence more angled driveways & hilly streets, 3" might be too low. Here's a test for you:

Go pickup 2 BIG pieces of styrofoam or light weight foam products. Duct tape them (yes, i know, how can you do that to your baby!) to the underside of your front bumper, as well as pads running the entire distance of your side valences. You should be able to tape them mostly to just the underside of your car, causing absoultely no aesthetic difference. Make these pieces run the complete length of your side skirts & front end, as well as perhaps jutting out a slight bit. Make them approx 2" tall, i.e. about 1" for your suspension drop, and then 1" for your body kit. Also, if this looks too low, figure this: your tires will change dependent upon outside pressure & wear, as well as different weights inside your vehicle (passengers, fuel, cargo). Anyways.

Now you have your test mule. Now go drive around your neighborhood & parking lots that you frequent, especially those with angled entry ways and speedbumps, etc. When you get home look at the foam. Wherever you have dents or scrapes in your foam - thats what you'll have on your body kit.

If you don't have ANY, then you're good to go and its not too low. If you have some minor scrapes & dings, then it shouldn't be a huge problem, but you may have to reinforce your kit with some rubber flanges or something on the underside just to give it some extra support & transfer shocks away from one point, mainly so you don't crack it in one place you might hit repetitively. If you have severe damage to those pieces of foam, you may want to consider either kit or suspension, but not both.

Also, you could do this with the rear as well, but honestly thats about the last part that'll catch with this design, and the Nismo kit isn't a complete bolt on to the rear, its just 2 little pieces that stick on the sides.

Hope this helps!

you sir, are what they call an idiot. the great people of this forum have described what you should do. do it. if the foam gets scraped, keep it stock.

The politest insult ever thrown.

But I sort of agree. Do the foam test BEFORE buying anything except thefoam and duct tape.

Which is why I referred to Skidazzle. His car has the Nismo body kit (which I will have on mine in about 2 weeks) and coilovers and he has lowered his car about an inch from what I can see in his pics. Just do a search on his name and see for yourself. His car still looks to have quite a bit of clearance. Far more than either of my 300TTs did.....
