Alright, so i got water on one of my 12000k's and it burned down. Yay. They looked gorgeous BTW, but i think its time for something new. Do you guys think i should go with 6000k or 8000k? Does the latter look ricey, or is it just white with a little shade of blue?
if you were using 12000k hell you were probably putting out less light than a halogen. You will notice a huge difference with the new bulbs, Im goin with the 6000k personally so I dont sacrifice too much light output but they still look real nice.
My research on the HID topic tells me that supposedly all factory HID headlights have 4300K color temperature. Anything higher and they do not have DOT approval. However some look whiter/bluer than others due to differences in the projectors and cutoff shields.
I'm not really sure about $100 lights off ebay, you get what you pay for most of the time. As far as stock lumens there are guys that preach stock bulbs till the end of the world if you let them, but bottom line is if you wanted stock you never would have removed them, right. My personal opinion is Piaa super cobalt 6600k's, they are pricey but with that you get 3 yr. warranty and a very nice blueish color which still makes great light. BTW phillips does make 6000k which is a very good brand also.
4300k is the best level of lumens output. Anything above, it starts to deteriorate.
Yea, but the difference isn't really noticable. The big city is very well-lit, to the point where you barely even see the difference with HIGHBEAMS on or off. Now, if you spend a lot of time on dark, unlit streets, you'll notice the same streets have very little traffic so you might as well just use highbeams on them, and that'll light up the street really well with ANY temperature HIDs.
