That's what I thought too. But if you look underneath, there isn't much space to for the wind to push up from since our rear pumpkin is right there. And at the inside end of the diffuser, it folds UP, I guess blocking the wind as well.

Also, for air that actually gets in there, I think it would safely flow right out from the area around the exhausts.

That was my last exhaust so i know what you're talking about. If it clears my new evoTT, it will clear the HKS no problem.

If they fit the fat greddy mufflers, HKS should clear.

..but remember, HKS mufflers are installed at an angle while Greddy are straight and to the side. It's the clearance on the center section of the center piece that i'm worry about.....(anyway, it's good to know that HKS muffler are smaller than Greddy....the L & R part of the center piece should be clear....)

Nitrouz, thank you for all your help on this item - getting accurate information is impossible, and too expensive for me to experiment. Just let you know it is appreciated by the community.

you're very welcome. That's the point of the boards.

I'll post pics from different angles after it goes on.

are the vortex generators at the ends permanently connected and do you have to use them or can the single diffuser piece be used without them? Thanks for the pics.

You don't have to use the vortex generators. I think it would look very nice using the Nismo rear peices with it instead.

Although I have spent a lot of time on my back looking at the undercarriage of my Z, I looked at the area where this goes again, and I can see that two things are going on.

A rectangular crossbeam about 3 to 4 inches deep crosses the trunk bottom toward the front of the car in relationship to the stock muffler location.

The huge aluminum crossmember that the suspension bolts to is in front of that.

So, my thought is, if this piece's front edge (the edge toward the front of the car) is higher than the low part of the first crossmember, then little or no airflow will "push down" on this part, which was one thing I wondered about when it was reveled that it only attached at the sides and rear.

Now vacuum is another animal.
