Thats probably just the look of the headlight, because if you look at bmw's lights when their parked or even driving by them you can notice that when you move around them they change from colors such as blue, green, purple, and white.

One thing I found with my 04 Z, a friends Altima, another friends Murano, and reported by loads of users here and elsewhere. Nissan aims for the ground with their HIDs. I was overdriving my lamps at 25mph. The light is bright but it is aimed so low and cuts off so hard, you can't really see anything past two car lengths.
The 06 could be better; but looking at efx's pics, they look pretty low. Check your headlight hight, with the car on flat ground and 8" from the wall, they should be somewhere between 26" and 27.5" off the ground. I don't know if the adjuster is the same on the 06 but this is how we did it with the 03-05 cars. http://www.hypersprite.com/auto/tech-z-003/index.asp

Do the 06 HID's use the same HID hardware as the 03-05's. Same wattage? I have a 04 with HID and I have access to a set of 06 housings, but no hid hardware. Plug in play or do I need more?

you will only need to switch the bulbs to d2s. which is for projectors lights like the 06 headlights
should be 100 bucks for the philips bulb. check hidplanet.

Yep, just need to swith the D2S HID bulbs, check at www.iJDMTOY.com, they have pretty good deal on those bulbs.

Ok I have a bit of a long question. I have a 2005 Base model. Obviously no HID. I bought an aftermarket set of HID's for it 5000k. They work OK. The stock housing on the 03-05 Z sucks for HID. We all know that. I recent got a the 06 front bumper put on my car. The body shopped removed my driver side headlight. I guess when they put it back on it got all outta wack. Now when i drive at night the beam shoots to left. Its freakin annoying.
I just wanna upgrade to the 06 style and call it a day. Can I use my existing aftermarket HID with the new style headlight or do I need the factory HID ballast/bulb. I can save a lot of money on just buying the housings.

bump fro some sick headlights!!! I have the G35 coupe 06 version headlamps on my car and they are flawless! the price justifies the amount of time, craftsmanship and any other compenents of assembling such a quality product.
