Default Tint Laws by State

I just had my windows done this past Monday and 35% on a SB looks like total *** The shop that did it only charged $100.00 for the legal limit here and I'm already thinking of having the windows redone in a darker shade. The legal limit is 35% here in MD and I don't know how bad the police harass drivers on tints, just curious what other Z owners have on their windows and whether or not anyone's been pulled over for windows darker than 35%...

I have no tint on my Z right now but I will be going with 35% all around for a classy look, but if I don't like it I will go 20%. Here in Cali the legal limit is 35% as well but I have seen some people with 5% or even limo tint all around. If you search the forums I am sure you can see some pics of the different type of tint everyone has on their Z.

it depends on what type of film was used. I had my car done in 35% with Johnson film, and I am very pleased with the result. Compliments the super black paint.

My first car had 20% all the way around (NY State cops don't really harass you unless it's the end of the month) and it looked fine to me.
But the installer said it might darken up after a few days. Is this BS? Have your windows gotten any darker with time?

thanks!

In delaware and MD tint is a secondary offense. That means an officer cant pull you over for just tint. Of course a cop could say you were driving suspiciously...But i live in DE and i have 20% all the way around. And im getting the front window tinted 35%.

I've got 15% on the sides and rear...love it. Haven't been harassed at all...and was in NY over labor day weekend...all weekend...didn't get pulled over once. I even wanted it a bit darker, so i ended up puttting 30% on the windshield. Makes the car look slick. Here's a pic when the sides were done...but not the windshield...

{edit} just noticed....this was my 100th post!!! wooohooo....haha...

Austin

sorry it's not closer...one of the few i have online and available...

Have 18% front, 5% on remaining three, and love it! Thankfully, cops here in Denver don't harass over tint or missing front plate. I have had two speeding tickets in the Z (sigh!) so far but neither officer even mentioned those two infractions.

In SC they would take your DL and hold it to the inside and see if they could read it from the outside. If they could read it they let you go and if not they removed the tint for ya!!! right on the spot

My state law is 35%. I tinted the car 35% all around and it looks extremely dark IMO. The crappy driving lights of the base coupled with the all around tint and poor Z visibility is very dark at nights. The car looks a lot darker than the 35% tint that was installed. I'm guessing it has tinted windows from the factory.

In Louisiana 50% of sunlight must be visible through the 2 front windows, ans the front windshield tint can't extend past 5 inches from the roof town the windshield. I have 20% on my 3 front windows, 5% on the 2 rear sides and rear windows, and a 5% strip across the windsheild.
Yeah it's illegal, but it looks DAMN good!
Here are some pics

It's 50% on fron windows and 35% on rear windows in VA. Doesn't seem worth it to me.

Very good actually! Even when driving in heavy downpour at night, I have no visibility issues. Dark tint just looks so darn good on red that I couldn't get myself to stay at the legal 27% limit we have here in Colorado. Plus, I have adjusted my side mirrors such that I don't have blindspots and that certainly helps even more so at night.

I have posted pics here before; they are floating around somewhere.
