Default Trunk Space question

Im trying my very best to purchase a used 350Z as we speak, but I have a quick question about the space in the hatch. What can be removed to create a bit more room? I ride a BMX bike daily, but there doesn't seem to be much room for one back there. I know that you cant actually remove that strus bar, but is it possible to remove alot of that bulky plastic around it? And what else can be removed back there to create a bit more room? Im not concerned with how it might look with plastic cosmetic pieces missing. thanks.

if you remove the mats and the spare tire you'll free up some space. The problem really is the strut bar though...since it prevents big objects from fitting . If it weren't for the strut bar the trunk space would be decent.

I don't see you being able to carry a BMX bike. Look for a bike rack you can bolt to frame.

(And ignor all the guys below who are going to flame me for suggesting it...LOL!)

The plastic really isn't all that thick.

+1 on the bike rack.

So, you are saying that because a "Porsche guy" that its ok? cause it aint. if you need room for a bike then look at a larger car, plus bike racks are fugly, Z's do not deserve a bike rack.

If you need trunk space maybe the 350Z is not a good choice.

There's not one bit of practicality in a 350Z ... that's why a lot of Z owners have a second car to transport bulky items.

Get a bike rack, you'll never fit a BMX bike in the rear of the Z even if you pull out the spare tire and all of the mats. Even by chance if you did fit one in, you would scratch the heck out of the paint, plastic, etc.

Get a bike rack, you'll save yourself time, damage, and headaches.

not only that, but bike racks are removable. You can take it off when you aren't using it

well, i wanted to avoid a bike rack because of weather reasons, as well as luck I've had on other cars with some racks leaving marks and scratches from the hooks or buckles, as well as any sort of shaking. And I wanted to avoid a hitch style rack because of the unwanted added weight that a receiver adds. But if that's the only option then ohwell. And just for the record, I currently have a scion, and so I hope that explains why Im pursuing this car. But thanks for all the help everyone.

When you start riding in the Z you won't want to ride your bike any more.
